InSinkErator Badger 5XP Garbage Disposal, Badger Series 3/4 HP Continuous Feed Food Waste Disposer

Love Amazon. My old InSinkErator Badger 1/3 hp had a leak (hole) in the casing after 10 years of use. Not bad since this was the cheapest one and lasted that long. So I decided to get another InSinkErator Badger 5XP 3/4 HP with the 3 yr warranty. I am confident in the brand and I did not want to have to cut the pipes to retrofit a different brand. Amazon was awesome and delivered the item the very next day by 3pm. I ordered it the night before at 7pm. Talk about awesome delivery service and best of all it was free. Yes I could have made the trip to my local big box home improvement store but why when I got a better price and free next day delivery. I don't understand why someone would purchase a more expensive garbage disposal. Unless you like to throw bones down the drain and want something super quite. I just don't get paying more than $150 for a garbage disposal. The installation took me 1 hour to complete. The item came with everything needed to make install a breeze. My old one was hard wired so I did not need to get the one with the plug outlet. The hardest part was getting the silver metal ring onto the sink part while holding up the sink part with enough force. It takes some patience and dexterity to complete this task. Everything else was super easy. I recommend mounting the item first before hooking it up to make sure all the pipes fit correctly. I did not have to cut any pvc pipe to make this fit and this one was only slightly longer than the 1/3 hp model I replaced. I can tell this one is more powerful. Don't forget to have plumbers putty available if you are replacing the sink drain part. That is the only item that does not come with this. This was a great success and I saved myself $140 versus hiring a professional to install it for me. I just watched a video on how to install it online and followed the steps on the clear instructions that came with the product. I do have a dishwasher but my dishwasher line goes directly into my pvc drain so I did not have to punch out the hold for that part of the install. I hope the photos of my old one and new one installed help the next buyer. The first three photos are of my old Badger 1 and the last two photos are the install of the new one along with the sink part installed.

Awesome. My old one, finally gave up the ghost. It fit the hole because we had one. It's great value for what it does. And surprisingly quiet for an insinkerator. Our old ones sounded like a jet engine Landing, this one is less noisy. It went in easy and so far has given me very few if none problems. I wish I could buy another one just because it's so awesome

Well this was the perfect replacement for the Badger 10S-2. Swapped the electrical wire left the old mount in pushed it up locked it down BAM! Done! Works like a Charm! Oh and if you see a tiny bit of rust in the cupboard under the unit it is on its way out so get one ordered so you are ready on your time to replace it soon!

I was replacing a non-insinkerator 1/3 hp unit with this one, so I had to do every step as the sink flange was completely different. I ran into the following issues and offer the following advice to others: 1) The insinkerator snap ring can be really hard to get on when working alone with only a weight on the sink side to hold it down. I finally got it on by using thick painters tape to hold the fiber gasket and bottom mount while I fiddled with the snap ring. I still had to get out the snap ring pliers to do it alone, but if someone was there to hold it from top, I could have been more aggressive and might have been able to do it by hand. If you get aggressive with only a weight on top, you start messing up your plumbers putty job... 2) One of the steps on wiring says to put a cable clamp on (not included).. REALLY? this information should have been in the REQUIRED TOOLS listing. No one has a bag of metal cable clamps (strain relief) just laying around... I opted to use a rubber grommet instead that I happened to just have so at least the wires arent rubbing against sheet metal. Pretty sure that clamp only would have cost 10 cents to include for free... this should have been included, as should have a couple of wire nuts (which i already had) 3) I fiddled for more than hour trying to get this heavy thing twisted on... in the end, I had it on there right a few times but just wasn't confident it was on there correct. This is because it feels really loose when twisted on and you then need to reach above and twist the metal flange attachment more. I recommend watching the insinkerator video as the instructions aren't super clear on this... Anyhow.. I'm happy with the end result, just not super happy with the installation process. It could be improved.

Replaced the 12 year old disposal that our home builder had installed (which I've learned was actually too small for our home and family size) with this and I'm very impressed - not only by its size but also by the ease of installation. Thankfully I'm my case, I basically had to twist the old one of and twist this one into place (and of course secure the plumbing and electrical). I purchased this based on reviews and reputation, so I'm hopeful to get many years of use. It seems very well made, and runs as quiet as the one I've replaced.

Replaced old insinkerator 444. Space was tight due to drain placement. Originally bought the higher end model as it advertised quieter grinding and more reliability. Unfortunately it didn’t fit so I returned it and got the Badger instead, as the badger has a narrower profile - matched the 444 footprint well. The badger is still way quieter and smoother than my failing 444, so I’m satisfied. Amazon was also a lot cheaper than home depot and Ace.

The product arrived faulty, the heat fuse keeps tripping after 5 seconds of working, the product is old, I reccomend buying a newer model Also, note that it does not arrive with air switch and not even a power cord.
