A New Name in The Croquet Game
I am a newbie croquet player. I started playing with an Uber wooden mallet. The Extreme Croquet Mallet is not quite as heavy as the Uber. I was hoping that the Extreme Mallet would make a huge improvement however I see only a little which may be due to my own mechanics more than the mallet. I don't get more distance nor more accuracy. It seems to be easier to chip shot over another ball or obstacle with the Extreme. The shipping charge was rather high for this product probably due to the length of the shaft. Speaking of the shaft. It is an elliptical octagon shape which allows you to use the shaft to orient your aim. Cool feature. One advantage of the Extreme mallet is that it is tough and durable especially compared to the Uber Professional mallet. My friends Uber Professional mallets are less than a year old and are cracking, splintering and losing screws.Update: 9-11-16My play has become erratic. I was having more mis-hits and less accuracy. It seemed to twist in your hands. My luck one day was much better. I then started playing with an Uber Professional mallet. The Uber is heavier and has a larger striking surface than the Extreme, two huge advantages. One of the other players in my group really liked playing with the Extreme at first but his game deteriorated and he switched to an Uber and experienced a huge improvement. Keep in mind that comparing the Extreme to an Uber Professional may be apples and oranges because Uber is arguably the best mallet on the market (in this price range) but I have added one star based on this experience.

nice practical mallet for the heavy croquet user
I had been looking for a dependable croquet mallet for at least 6 years.... cost with a good design to take the abuse my wife and I daily matches take. This mallet works well. We upgraded from an old adult set we bought on sale and had all the extras, stand cover and nice metal rings around heads of mallets. The heads stood up fine , but mallets had ball shaped scares and need to be replaced.I looked for the same set, but I could fine only reduced engineered examples which had intimate the metal rings, which protected the mallets from wear and tear, the problem I was trying to replace. This mallet even upgrade that mallet and set I had at a reasonable cost. It plays differently, but with time I will get use to its extra weight and power given to the ball. It does take time but does have an explosive pop when hitting one's ball. I have had it only two weeks but can tell this was the mallet I was looking for.I rarely write reviews , but wanted others to know this mallet is very good. down side is it looks, but this is overweight by performance and reliability. Totally wood mallet might look better, but even with cost of 3 time more they might not last as long.

One nice Mallet!
I have owned the cheaper small round wooden croquet mallets, the heavier square croquet mallets, and now this high density mallet. And I can say I will never use another mallet other than these for now on. We play a hybrid style of extreme croquet that we invented on a large backyard. Hitting over asphalt, bark beds, through bushes, and also long runs from one wicket to the next. If you need to crack the ball a long distance to reach the next wicket, this mallet does it with ease. Excellent balance and the longer handle gives you more control. For long distance shots I like to swing the mallet golf style. At first I was worried that the handle was too long for the golf style swing yet I adapted and it's not an issue now. You can also saw some length off if you wish. I would recommend this mallet to anyone who wants a quality mallet for extreme croquet. The only problem is the shipping cost. Order a couple at a time to save some bucks.

Defective Product...Self-Pay to return
The mallet head chipped after using twice. I'm a beginner so I didn't hit it very hard at all.I'm concerned that the mallets won't hold up long term. After spending over $100- I expected that they would hold up longer than using twice.Seller said I have to self-pay to return...Warranty is useless....Amazon allows 3rd party scammers...BEWARE OF THIS SELLER!!!EDIT: 03 January...Seller responded quickly.Said they will replace mallet head, still waiting to see what shipping will cost...$$Also part of the problem was operator error...I chose to use regulation 16 oz balls... According to seller I should have chosen lighter weight balls (10-13 oz)I will update after replacement mallet head arrives.

Croquet Mallet
We are playing Backyard Croquet on a flat court of relatively long grass with a few bumps and divots. This mallet worked quite well under our playing conditions. The HDPE head just tossed off the water from our frequently wet grass. This mallet was a major step up from the cheap backyard sets on the market. Down side: The shipping charge was far too high.

much larger, longer and more study than the average croquet mallet
LIke any mallet you must hit it to get comfortable with feel and distance.. Made very well and feels very good in your hands. Oversize handle similar in size to the oversize putter grips popular in golf. Look forward to many years of fun.

So awesome!
We live with uneven, hills and long grass. We were going through mallets like they were disposable! I started buying these extreme mallets and problem solved! They work like magic and everyone fights over them. We can now set up even more extreme croquet circuits and have all the fun we want without fear of ruining the mallet! Let the games begin.
