Michelin Italy Map 735 (Maps/Country (Michelin)) (Italian and English and French and German and Spanish and Dutch Edition) [Michelin] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Michelin Italy Map 735 (Maps/Country (Michelin)) (Italian and English and French and German and Spanish and Dutch Edition) Review: A good country map - A good map in the Michelin Country series. Gives you all the roads you will need for driving around Italy. I do not like the new cardboard covers (front and back) on this map - it makes it harder to fold and use when one is driving. Easy cross reference to the Michelin Green Guides and Michelin Red Guide. The above was my write up of this map written previously on this map's prior edition - I just received my new edition in January 2020, and the map was updated in May, 2018 and is number 735 in the Michelin series. Note it is in a scale of 1/1000,000 where one inch equals 15.8 miles. The regional maps (in the 561-566 series) are more detailed - for example the northwest Italy map (561) is in a scale of 1/400,000 where one inch equals 6.31 miles. These maps are very detailed and one should use the Key to the symbols to get the most of these maps - for example a green box around a city means that the city is referenced in the Green Guide and is either a 2 or 3 star site. (Note: Michelin uses a one, two and three star system of ratings with 3 being the highest.) We find that using the overall country map for planning and long drives is adequate, and the regional maps are then used around specific areas, and the website viamichlin is used when very fine details are needed. As I mentioned in my prior review - I do not like the new cardboard covers, but they can be removed, just be careful not to tear the map. Review: Impressive - We're planning a trip to central and southern Italy and this map is awesome. It is huge - not necessarily something I'd want to consult while driving. I suspect that the map, unfolded, would be larger than the interior of most Fiats available to rent in Rome. But the detail is excellent and the index seems very complete - even some of the very small towns we plan to visit are marked on the map.

Great map
Very large map, easy to read, good for planning trips. I would like to see train lines on it, other than that I don't think it's missing anything.

Great map
Great map on our recent trip. We needed it as well as the GPS. A few smaller villages were not on the map, but overall pleased. Need to have an idea of where the cities are in order to navigate the highways.

Good map -- difficult country!
I'm giving this map 3 stars, though perhaps that's a bit unfair. I needed a map to get me from the Rome airport (FCO) up to Umbria, and this did the trick. What the map cannot accomplish, however, is a simplification of the Italian roads and naming conventions. In that respect, I suppose you could say that this map was perfect in that it mirrored reality. Roads change number almost at random it seems, and a map (at least for me) was most useful to ensure I was headed in the correct direction (that is, East, West, etc., as opposed to "Umbria"). For that, you simply have to watch the road signs. In all, this map did what we needed it to do - help chart long distances - but for anything more than that, you'll need one of Michelin's excellent regional maps (which were great).

Great detailed map
Our granddaughter is going to Italy this summer. This has been useful for her research and planning.

These maps are a must for the big picture planner.
Yes, they're a little big, because they're, maps. I enjoy having the big picture when planning a trip. These maps, and I buy one for every country, help me see the tinest places, he roads and their surroundings. No zooming in and out. It's all in front of me. By the end of every trip, I've noted a hundred things and they reflect our voyage.

This Italy map is not only great for driving but
I'm still old fashion I guess, using maps. This Italy map is not only great for driving but, I used it heavily for planning destinations in the Italian Alps (dolomites) and through the Brenner Pass into Austria. Knowing how far and the name of the village or next town is peace of mind that you can't get by using a GPS only. This map is large and very detailed showing the smallest off roads for extra site seeing adventures. Even if you only use it once driving through Italy, its well worth the investment!
