Does ‘directly ingest files’ mean you can backup an SD card without attaching it to a computer?

can work with Macbook 2011 ?

I have a mid 2012 Mac Air and purchased a 500gb Lacie Rugged SSD with thunderbolt and USB connections. It was purchased for use with Final Cut Pro, and it works superbly. Whilst only 500gb, it serves me well with a partition formatted to MSDos Fat for use with PC's.

Is this device time machine compatible. i want to replace my old time machine drive with this running with my imac (retina 4k, 21.5-inch, late 2015)

Works fine with Time Machine on my late 2009 IMac. I’ve been using it for a few years (since my Apple time capsule died), running permanently connected and it’s been very reliable. Just make sure you buy the Rugged drive with the correct cable/ports for your IMac’s output ports (my Mac is older than yours so doesn’t have latest ports such as usb-c)
