Great photos and an enjoyable read

This was a wonderful surprise. Great color photos throughout the entire book. Not a replacement for a shop manual by any means, but offers great pointers and is a very entertaining read.

Great book

Great book, fun to read, the same model as my, it's an E-start. Anyone with a norton commando should have this book.

Great pictures

Just started the restoration of my old bike and this is the best written book I have found for rebuilding an old Norton.

Book covers all Norton Commandos.

I am original owner of a 1973 Roadster and have accumulated several repair/maintenance and restoration books. This is one of the best.

Good companion reference

If you’ve never attempted an engine rebuild the book is helpful

Book fell apart in two days.

Well written and informative, but pages began falling out after the 2nd day.

Limited coverage of Commando models

The book is "OK", but the author's knowledge of Commando's, beyond the one and possibly only one he's worked on, is very limited. This is more of a treasure hunt than a definitive "how to" restoration manual-he seems to be dismantling his first Commando and writing about it, which many of us did many years ago. While his writing is somewhat more entertaining than the usually dry bike manual, it does not offest the lack of a breadth of knowledge about ALL Commando models. The title "How to Restore a Norton Commando" needs some fine print...or a serious disclaimer. ONLY if you are restoring a 1975 Mk III Commando is this book of any real value. Rather than describing the impact of working on earlier models, he simply makes a few remarks about earlier models being different, but no depth in how that would affect their disassembly, assembly or restoration, as the title claims. If you are building a 1975 Mk III Commando, buy a used copy-I'll have one for sale shortly. If you are building any other model, the other black-and-white covered manual does a much better job in helping you "do it right".
