Jukebox pinups
My accountant has a hobby of learning about, collecting, and refurbishing old jukeboxes It was Christmas and it was time to find something he might not already have. The book arrived in hardcover looking gorgeous It features excellent photos of all the different jukeboxes, most of which he had only ever dreamed of seeing. There was ample history and nostalgia on the jukeboxes. It's not just a photo book, but it sure supplies lots of functional pictures of rare jukeboxes. His feedback was excitedly affirmative after he had read it.One year I got my accountant a leather jacket. He was not as excited as he was this year.Excellent book.

Juke jewels
I've always liked this little book on historical jukeboxes. A nice size, almost eight inches square and full of color photos on the right-hand page with deep captions on the left. The boxes have been photographed by Kazuhiro Tsuruta straight on, no nonsense shots and printed on black pages, so they look a treat. The book starts with the Wurlitzer 24 from 1937 and goes up to 1948 with the Rock-Ola 1428. Nicely, table models and speakers fill out the rest of the pages. Authors Vincent Lynch and Bill Henkin write an eleven page history of the companies and designers.Tsuruta's photos were so good that other publishers have used them. Chronicle Books issued them in American Jukebox an expanded version with text by Vincent Lynch. The photos are bigger and there are additional wall boxes and some historic ad material included as well. Certainly worth getting though I still prefer the original book published by Lancaster-Miller in 1981. It can still be bought quite cheaply if you look around the net.***SEE SOME INSIDE PAGES by clicking 'customer images' under the cover.

Great pictures that thrill and excite.
Nice book of Jukebox pictures with well written introduction to these iconic and beautiful machines that were made in "stark contrast to the mass merchandising of modern commercial life". Description of each machine and it's date of production on opposite page to the Jukebox pictures.Great coffee table book to entertain guests while you make the tea and cucumber sandwiches. Excellent present for the fanatic who loves this sub-culture or the merely curious.A book that you can return to again and again to appreciate these hand crafted machines that were made in an era of idealism and optimism.
