Wonderful compendium
Desert Blues provides a great overview of Desert Rock, a musical phenomenon that I enjoy very much. I also like the introduction to the group Etran Finatawa. I use music and info about the group in my language classes in order to provide information about diversity and the unifying power of music.

Nice but blues???
Nice music but don't expect the blues it's its own thing. In my view the term desert blues is a sales pitch to people who wouldn't otherwise be interested. Which might be a good thing.
