Great all around sports watch!
I'm not the owner of this watch--I actually bought it for a young relative. She loves the way the watch looks and works. Casio makes great watches these days, some models better than others. I checked this one out thoroughly and it's definitely solidly made and has a well thought out module (brain) inside it. Plus, it has some fun animations that she loves to play with. It's a great watch for a young kid that also works well for a young adult. I definitely see her growing up with this watch into adulthood. The good thing is that if you buy it in one color, you can get other colors from the Casio parts and service place. The bezel and band are interchangeable and not that difficult to swap. So, if you want you can get an assortment of colors (white, clear, smoke, blue, pink) and change them to suit the seasons or whatever moves you. This smoke model looks very good and works well with whatever colorful clothes a person wears. The battery life on this watch is rated for 3 years, but I've found that Casio watch batteries typically last much longer than that (sometimes double) depending on how much you use the functions on it. The person I gave this to used the light a few hundred times over the course of a couple of a week, but gradually she backed off as the novelty wore off. The good thing is that the battery is a pretty standard model and not that difficult to replace either. Also, a minor point, but the packaging is terrific. It's nicely designed with good color combinations. It certainly adds to the good feeling of opening up the metal tin to find your watch waiting inside. The only thing I wish Casio did differently with these watches is to provide a nice and simple quick-start guide. The manual is VERY THICK and intimidating for any kid. Since it is a "Baby G", the target market is women and children, so such a quick start guide would be helpful to get a person going without having to wade through a big booklet (it's really thick because it contains instructions in multiple languages).Lastly, it's important to know that these translucent plastics have a tendency to discolor when exposed to the sun for very long periods over time. Typically it will be a yellowing. I've seen photos of blue and pink ones that look peculiar with various color shifts. Anyway... the smoke color seems to be a little more resistant to the discoloration. Still, it may be a good idea to buy an extra bezel and band in case parts are hard to come by down the road, so you can refresh the watch when the time comes.

pretty awesome sports watch
I gave up on the hope of finding a "regular" watch with 24hr capability so I decided to buy my first sports watch. I bought the Baby G in gray. I am impressed with it overall- love all the features. I can switch between military and civilian time easily, the timer and stop watch come in very handy, and it's neat that it can hold phone numbers as well. Nicely surprised I didn't have to program the watch with the time as well, just change the "world city" to get it to display correctly. My disappointments? Well I have a very small wrist. I've never seen a sport watch that would fit my wrist nicely- plus they recommend you don't wear it tightly anyway (likely due to sweat)- this is not why I rate the watch at four stars since I can't fault it for something I already knew would be a downside. The reason I rated this watch at 4 stars instead of 5 is how easily the plastic parts get marked up. I get white marks on it constantly and I'm not sure how they appear because I am not at all hard on my watches. I am assuming a light bang on furniture and there it appears. HOWEVER, I found an easy solution which may help others as well with marks and scratches that appear (maybe even the discoloration some people have mentioned), I took out my Wenol (
Wenol Metal Polish 3-oz.
) and voila! All gone. (No household should be without Wenol, it cleans ***everything***.) Anyhow I was disappointed that the watch wasn't more durable in that sense. Makes it more finicky than a "regular" watch.Other than that one downside, I really love this watch.****update Feb 2013****CHANGED THIS TO A 5 STAR REVIEW!- Absolutely in love with this watch. With infrequent maintenance using the Wenol mentioned above, this watch still looks and performs as good as the day I got it. Haven't had to change the original battery yet even with my frequent use of both the stopwatch and count down timers (also switching between civilian and military times). Haven't regretted this purchase at all!

Looks great, works great
I purchased this watch both as a fashion accessory and as an alternative to fishing for my phone to check the time (I'm not one of those people who has her phone with her at all times). It looks great, for a sporty watch, and functions fine. I haven't tried too many of the extra features yet, but the instruction manual is very thorough (don't toss it!). The watch came nicely packaged in an official tin to protect it, which you could use if you were traveling with it. I have a tiny wrist, and this looks fashionably chunky without being too overwhelming. There are plenty of notches on the strap, which wipes down well to clean it, without there being too much extra sticking out once it's fastened. I was originally looking at white watches because I wanted a neutral, non-metal sports watch, but I heard a lot of complaints about yellowing over time with white straps. The grey is a nice alternative, especially if you wear silver jewelry. I'm happy with it and would recommend it. Even my nerdy engineer dad commented on how nice it looked.

Saw movie, wife loved it, had to buy it
Cool watch. My wife and I saw 'The Shallows' a couple of times now and being a watch guy I looked up the casio used in the movie and purchased it for her. It's her new favorite watch now. Product placement strikes again.

Good experience, but the tracking updates could be better.
With the launch of its first watch in November 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just discovered digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field confident that it could develop timepieces that would lead the market.
Today, Casio is focusing its efforts on solar-powered radio-controlled watches: the built-in solar battery eliminates the nuisance of replacing batteries, atomic timekeeping means the users never have to reset the time. Recently, Casio launched a series of Bluetooth watches that sync to the users cell phone to automatically update the time. Casio is always moving time forward.
