:-) Nothing's perfect, I guess
After 4 months of trying to figure out whether this little lamp was actually ever going off, we finally figured out that ... it does sometimes. Unfortunately, not often enough to keep it from using a lot of batteries & keeping a space lit all the time when it's only needed occasionally. It's too late to return this one, but we really need it in our larder. I guess I'll order another & monitor it closely so that we can return it w/in the allowable month if need be.*************************************Our little rural county has just made national headlines when Winter Storm "Pax" left most of us w/o electricity for several days. We've been using this lamp on a shelf in our Lobby (aka "the room of the 5 doors") in the "auto" (photocell) position so that we wouldn't have to be constantly turning on & off the over-head light, forgetting it was on & leaving it on for hours, etc; but during the power-outage, this little guy has been WONDERFUL! Using this lamp in the "on" position & supplemented by a headlamp apiece, my husband & I were able to function throughout our humble abode almost as well as if we'd had lights turned on in every room.I didn't want to order a 2nd lamp just to keep on hand in case of another power outage, but it occurred to me that it would be really helpful if our larder had one of these lamps - set on "auto" to react to each of my searches for a particular jar of jam or just the right-size egg (yes, I do a lot of home-canning, & we have a backyard poultry flock) & then serve as an additional emergency light if/when another ice storm should leave us in the dark!BTW: Yes, I'm also ordering extra head-lamps from Amazon because we use them every night when we make rounds to secure poultry housing, & my husband was truly inconvenienced when the strap on his headlamp broke during this week's power outage & he had to revert to carrying a flashlight.

Small battery powered lamp - worth its weight in gold during a storm outage!
Last week a summer storm knocked out our power for several hours. I had a collection of candles and tap lights, but in the dark I envisioned...this - something bigger, brighter, that would come on only when needed to conserve batteries. The next day I saw this lamp on Amazon and thought it might do the job. It arrived today and I must say it is absolutely the ideal solution! The lamp is white plastic. The base is approximately six inches tall; the top of the base is ringed with eight, tiny LED lights. Once you snap in the plastic harp, translucent shade, and finial (topped with a metal carrying loop), the total height is about nine and a half inches. There is a fairly large and easy to read switch on the back of the base with three settings: OFF, ON and AUTO. When in the AUTO position, a motion detector will activate and turn on the lights from 10-12 feet away; it will remain lighted for approximately one minute. If more time is required just flip the switch to the ON position to remain lighted. The LEDs are small, but eight of them provide plenty of light to accomplish tasks within 6-8 feet and enough light to read if you hold the print within 4-6 inches of the lamp. The translucent shade does a nice job of allowing plenty of light to see by, while still shading the LEDs sufficiently so that they don't trigger headaches. It is powered by four "C" batteries which fit into a pop out "cage" that you then put back into the base. The cage is designed so that it only fits in the base one way - so that the contacts touch. I suppose you could _force_ it in the wrong way, but it seems pretty much "idiot proof".The lamp has well thought out details, nice features and an overall cute, modern design. It would make a nice nightlight, especially for a child's room or dark corners of your house. My plan is to keep the lamp with my emergency kit supplies (flashlights, weather radio, spare batteries, etc.).Although it's just a small plastic lamp, I feel that it's certainly nice enough - with a clever design and extreme practicality - to make a terrific holiday gift for some of my neighbors. Especially since our development is older, with overhead wires and lots of trees which makes us prone to storm outages.Highly recommended!

I love this little lamp!
This Fulcrum 20020-108 8 LED Sensor Table Lamp is perfect. Seriously, it is simple, lightweight, unobtrusive, and can be set to motion sensor mode.I was actually looking for a small touch lamp or possibly a motion sensor night light for my bathroom. This popped up in my list of suggestions, and it looked interesting so I had a look. I have a bit of a reputation in my family for liking ugly lamps, but this is not ugly! I set it on the inside corner of the bathroom counter. Because of it range, it senses when I am partway down the hallway from my bedroom and goes on. The light is perfect, not bright enough to shock your eyes when you are just waking up, but plenty bright enough to find something in the medicine cabinet. I don't tolerate bright lights well, and will often shower in whatever ambient light is available, and that can be pretty sparse during certain times of the year with only one small window and neighbors who don't do much in the way of lighting. This could not be more perfect. It does not sense the cats when they walk down the hallway, or even my large dog. The height of the counter makes it perfect for only sensing human traffic. It is made of plastic, all of it. Be aware of that and don't expect a silk shade or ceramic base. This is all plastic and very light. It also requires some assembly, which took me about 2 minutes.I just purchased another one to put at the top of my stairs, so when the kids are home, they can have light when they need it. I am considering one more for the kitchen, and I am currently looking for a little corner shelf that will serve the purpose for that. I cannot recommend this more highly.

5 Star product but...
Completely agree with the other reviewer regarding no batteries in the package is being a main concern plus an expensive risk involved buying this light, how/why?1. Well you need C type batteries (slightly smaller version of type D battery in size) not 1 or 2 but 4 of them! Single piece costs 100 rupees total of 400/- rupees (Duracell) just to light this thing up to see whether its working or not.2. C cells are quite rare and even if you find one it wont be a Duracell brand so good luck finding it in local shops. But i bought it from Amazon. At best you will get a Panasonic or Panasonic alike C type battery which costs 18/-per piece, ehh?3. Well this light itself cost 1400/- plus quality C type batteries from Duracell for loner life that's add 400/- total of 1800 for unknown (in India) brand so if you're unsatisfied with the product you can return the lamp but end up with unusual expensive C type batteries which will not support most of Indian electronics. Thats one costly risk so my advice would be get those green colour Panasonic or any cheaper option from local shop and try it, will cost no more than 80/- rupees if you like the lamp (which you will) buy the Duracell.4. Well coming to the lamp everything works as advertised, the sensor is super useful especially those nights searching for lamp switch well its still useful when you have your night lamp on because it gives more light than a night lamp and auto turn off after 40s or so, which i find extremely useful no need to rely on tubelights which will disturb other family members. The lamp is powered by 8 LEDs which is powerful enough to lit-up the entire room with soft light that don't hurt our eyes very useful if you have little ones around. It has 3 modes Auto, On and Off, use Auto at night and turn it off on daytime but incase of powercuts just use it as a regular emergency lamp just set to On mode. According to Amazon.com's specs it should last approximately 36hours of battery life on continuous usage.Built quality is good i won't say best but good because its still failed to give a solid confidence so if you drop it there is a high chance of breaking it into pieces. But must agree these looks extremely beautiful art piece thats alone justifies the price and the technology used is simply awesome and extremely useful so its a 5 star product if you ask me.-2 Stars.1. Manufacturer must be joking by not including a rather unusual battery type which is bloody expensive 4 of them need to be purchased from user side. So you cant even try it out without investing a cost of Chinese emergency light which works straight out of the box.2. Whats up with Amazon india and cloudtail selling extremely old electronics MFG dated 2016 in my case. This is happening most of the time. Are you listening Amazon india? Selling nearly 2.5 years old product to your loyal customers why?But i didn't return i really needed this well its expensive but honestly i think its worth it. After a year of usage about its life quality i will update this review and may increase to 4 star but still -1 star for Amazon india for their selling practices.

Excellent lamp. I use it in our tent for camping, and a washroom night light for guests at our home. It's never let me down. Uses C batteries, but they last a long time. I've only had to change them out once in 2 years...
