a superb tome to make new and old english speakers feel at home and grin as well
i love to send this book to my favorite people whose first language is not english. humorous illustrations keep you grinning while viewing most common idioms/figures of speech while also seeing them used in sentences. a magnificent resource for children hungry for new words and expressions. an essential well of material to make jokes some dry some wet. don't leave home without this. great ice-breaker to assess a tourist's familiarity with the language. a cool tool to get to first base when swinging for the fences. breaks down walls. a swell book not long enough.

I used this and the 101 English Idioms in my high school ESL classroom for many years. The students enjoyed the clever illustrations which helped them to remember and use the proverbs and idioms. I now use them with adult students in the ProLiteracy program at our local library.

Smart Way for Studying Proverbs
This book is really cool. I am very pleased indeed to recommend it for those studying proverbs. The author of this book, Mr. Harry Collis, is so smart. He presented a very good number of common English proverbs in a genius way of learning. It is to learn and have fun in the same time. He really wants his readers to sit down, relax, read, learn, and laugh!!!He, first, had had his book illustrated with vary funny cartoons, which make the readers zealous to read and read. Secondly, the readers, then, will read a dialogue and within each dialogue they will learn and comprehend a proverb in the same time. Namely, both the proverb and its meaning are clearly explained inside the dialogue, not to mention, they are bolded.I am sure that those whose mother language is not English will find studying proverbs as well as idioms is much easer than learning English vocabularies.(...)

An apple a day keeps the doctor away.や Nothing ventured, nothing gained.は果たしてこの本に見つかるでしょうか。
