doraemon is so good and timeless it should be read by anyone looking for good storys, imaginative ideas of futuristic gagets and funny characters

OK, these are the older comics, tracing back to the 1960s. Doraemon will look better. Funny that pages turn the "Asian" book way so that when I first swiped the screen the "normal" way, nothing happened. Ha ha! Doraemon is so much fun. It is the Mickey Mouse of Japan and wildly popular across Asia. America is only discovering it more than 40 years after it was first published. And the amazing thing is that even if it's 40 years ago that Doraemon was first published, the stories, the adventures, and gadgets remain fresh in our time.

I read doraemon comic books when I was small. Reading is one of my childhood favorite activities. Too bad this kindle edition is too short. I remember the real comic books have more stories/chapters...

I remember first seeing the Doraemon character on a trip to Hong Kong back in June 2007. From that point on, I was wondering why no one in the United States was willing to import this Japanese franchise to the United States. It's true, this manga series has never made it to the US, until now. I have to say this series is as good as many of its fans in Asia say it is (and of course the few American otaku who have heard of him just by being basement dwellers). The series focuses on a boy named Noby (or "Nobita" as he's called in Japan) who is pretty much like a Japanese Charlie Brown. He is the unluckiest kid on the block and just can't seem to get anything right. It has a horrible effect on his future descendants, so his great grandson, Soby (Sewashi), to send his robotic servant out to help him. This series does not disappoint when trying to appeal to kids and adults alike, as anime and manga in general are being stereotyped as violent action shows thanks to the likes of Naruto and One Piece (which are both still good, but probably wouldn't be liked by parents of young children), Doraemon is an example of a series that can appeal to kids and hardcore otaku alike, and parents can trust the stories in this manga to be appealing without the tropes I mentioned before that they most associate with anime nowadays. It's a definite must in my book if you have a Kindle and want to shop for eBooks for your children online here at Amazon.com this holiday season.

I grew up reading Doraemon and so happy that it.s still around. Cute stories and easy to read. It’s my all time favorite.

Doraemon is the story of a lovable loser named Nobi, and Doraemon the robot cat who comes from the future to help him. Every story begins with Nobi getting in trouble, and Doraemon trying to help him with a "dogu": a futuristic gadget so advanced it looks like magic. Nobi inevitably uses the dogu in some kind of get rich quick scheme, and it backfires on him, ending in an aesop about how fancy gadgets are no substitute for hard work. What I loved about the stories: the dogu are incredibly imaginative-- imagine tiny helicopters which attach to your head, a door that can take you anywhere, postal mailtags that will fly the package, a mailbox that receives letters from the future, and a study desk that doubles as a time machine. The stories teach the reader to work hard, without being ham fisted about the message, and the characters are lovable: Doraemon's facial expressions are delightful, and he has his own foibles: he loves sweet pies ("dorayaki") to a fault, and is terrified of mice.

I own the another english translation bought in Japan of this series, and this is way shorter than any of those books. You get 3 chapters. I should probably expect this due to it's price, but it still feels like a bit of a rip-off. It also feels a bit too americanized. But it's still very good. If you like Doraemon already, it's definitely worth the price.

Doraemon debuted in 1969 in japan. As of now, its is still popular in not only his own country, but almost around the world! Except for of course North America because it never appeared.But after almost 50 years of delay in North America, it finally appeared. As a person who hates anime and doesn't read manga at all, this is one of the best japanese comics i ever read! Doraemon is a cute robot cat that has to help a stupid weak geeky 10 year boy name Nobita so he can have a successful future. Its cute, funny and fun to read! I give it 5 stars.
