Truly exceptional idea. The FRS radio frequencies used are suitable for US and Canada usage, but should check for legality if traveling internationally. Fairly unique solution, fun for people who snorkel closely together. Not ideal for long distances. Obviously designed to be used only with snorkie talkies fitted on the Ocean Reef 'Aria' line of snorkeling masks (works fine with the snorkie-talkie accessory on my Aria QR snorkeling mask, for example).Most Non-US countries you'll need to check and see whether FRS radios are allowed in that country. I called the telecommunications department in Fiji for example, and it's not legal there (because it conflicts with other radio frequency usage in their country). If you try to sneak them in where they are illegal, you could find yourself facing hefty fines, or worse.Other than that, they seem fine. Radio signals basically don't propagate underwater, but if everyone has at least their head on the surface (as they typically do with full face snorkel masks) short distances should be fine. Certainly even light FRS radio waves can travel further than trying to yell to each other (especially when people have their masks on, and/or ears underwater).Sure, it's only FRS frequencies and power-levels (does not use the frequencies overlapping GMRS, which could have allowed 2x to 4x the power level - I wish it had that option) so the signal is relatively weak. However, if you aren't staying close enough to receive even a weak FRS signal between snorklers or back to shore, then you're probably not close enough to help each other.It's a little too muffled for long chats, but simple phrases like "Look over here" or "Take my picture" or "I'm going back" or "Time to go" are clear enough. Certainly suitable, and better than anything else out there in the price-range and feature set for snorkeling.
