Our evaporative portable a/c unit offers a 38.4 pint dehumidifier that reduces unwanted moisture using our unique evaporative process, by removing moisture from the air and drips onto the condenser. The condenser evaporates the water and exhaust it out of the exhaust hose with the hot air. If the water is not fully evaporated it is dripped into a small pan and then pumped back up to be evaporated by the condenser. Features a programmable timer that shuts the unit on/off and remembers all settings, along with a sleep mode that automatically increases set temperature to conserve energy. LCD remote control operates and displays all settings. The single hose exhaust system provides quick spot cooling and 2 speed fan with adjustable louvers increases circulation. Also includes a washable and reusable air filter that reduces dust and other airborne particles, and heavy duty casters attached for easy portability. More powerful, more reliable and more energy efficient.

Does not cool off, and LOUD!
EDIT 7/7/2014: requested return, I have to pay for shipping, around $40.. subject to 15% restocking fee. I could lose up to $80 for buying this piece of junk..Original complaints: it does not cool off even our small kids bedroom, 400 sq ft, after 45 minutes we lost one degree in the room! Installed window vent etc.. it doesn't work.ALso it leaks water everywhere! Even after draining and put back packaging, I can see water leaking from the box! This unit is Loud, LOUD LOUD!!!Very heavy, what a pain to pack and ship back to Amazon. Buyers beware, this is a TERRIBLE product.

Not sure yet
I use this in the desert area of Southern California which is relatively dry. Thus, one would think the "Evaporative" part of this unit would be good enough and no water would get stored in the internal tank. Oh how wrong you would be if you think this. I don't think this thing evaporates water at all. I contacted support about this and they did not respond. I also use this with a hook up to a sliding patio window, which I expect a lot of users of portable air conditioners would use. The window kit is not large enough for a patio window, so I'm going to have to figure something else out, or just keep the patio window open a little. As others have said, the hose does get very hot.All that being said, the unit does seem to cool down a room a bit. I wouldn't say it really cools a whole room, as I had a thermometer and the room only dropped 0.2 degrees in five hours. However, point it directly at yourself and it will cool you down. Fortunately, this is how I will be using it, so it will work for me.Update after having the unit for a few days: The AC broke! When set to AC mode, it doesn't blow any cooler than the fan. The dehumidify mode blows colder air, enough to keep the room coolish, but I'm not sure why. I'd expect just the opposite, AC cold air, dehumidify same temp as fan, just pulling out water from the air. I have again contacted the support and we'll see if they respond. If not, back to Amazon for this unit.

Wonderful Life saver
I did quite a bit of research before I purchased this unit. I looked at "swamp coolers" and other units and this seemed to be the answer to my problem. I don't have a window in my living area for a unit window. I have a front door and about 35 feet away is a sliding glass door. Temperatures here got to almost 100 degrees and my apartment is old with no insulation to speak of and is an upstairs unit. I have been able to keep my large (15 X 35) living area under 80 degrees on the hottest days and very comfortable on lower settings the rest of the time. This unit has been a life saver for me and I wish I had bought one sooner.

Pretty Cool for 8,000 BTUs
PROS--two-way vent adjustments (vertical & horizontal)...makes for easy air flow positioningsolid casters...easy to rollremote control...sitting on the couch I could turn the unit off and on, as well as adjust fan speed (very convenient)CONS---Odd draining setup (I didn't have an issue with it personally, but I do acknowledge the weird placement of the drain tube)------------Review-----------I bought this portable AC unit for my house that doesn't have central air. I have another LG 9,000 BTU portable air conditioner, but I needed something that I could run in another room. The air is VERY cold and with the high fan speed it pushes the air out a decent distance. I had no problem dropping a 10'x10' room from 88 degrees down to 75 degrees in about 1.5hours. This was also with a not perfectly adjusted window setup (I have horizontal sliding windows), a poorly insulated house, and an outside temperature which was probably around 93 degrees. For the price I have found this unit to be a good investment. Its footprint is quite small which is nice and the vent system that is included is quite sturdy (I like the construction of the hose itself as well as the way the hose connects to the unit and also the window).I saw a few people having issues with the draining tube, and my guess would be those that had leak problems didn't hook the hose up right. I never elevated my unit off the ground or had to construct any type of "set up" to allow for easy access to draining. Worst thing I had to do was roll the unit to my patio door and tip the unit backwards to draing the tiny bit left. Draining into a shallow pan is most definitely the easiest way, and the more often you drain the easier it is. I also have a feeling that those complaining about the amount of water build up were running their units in extremely humid conditions. I'm in San Diego and we were seeing about 60% humidity with one of our heat waves and the unit still did not collect an excessive amount of water.I am happy with my purchase, and while I would like a unit with more BTUs, the price was right for this units availability, especially with 1-day shipping when I needed it in a crunch
