Spawn Kills Everyone: The Complete Collection Volume 1

First off, I'm a big Spawn fan. So I really wanted to like this. In concept, it sounded great. Something like the "___ kills the Marvel Universe" books but starring Spawn. But the actual execution is not great.There's a lot of heavy handed meta humor, bad puns, poop jokes, and just very juvenile writing that makes this more groan-worthy than enjoyable. There were some good moments (mostly in the one-shot) but overall the story and the writing were really lacking. I've read the kills books from Marvel for Squirrel Girl, Deadpool, Punisher, and Deadpool again and those all had clear motivations for their actions and the stories were well thought out. This was not like that...And you actually didn't got a lot of the action either. Most of it was just a quick single panel kill - no real fights or struggles. No conflict to create any engagement for the reader. Things happen quickly and without impact.So overall, I wouldn't recommend this. It wasn't completely terrible; I didn't hate it entirely. But knowing now how it reads, I would pass on it if I had the choice again.

I love Spawn and love this new book Todd not taking Spawn so seriously in this series and the Donald Trump jokes were funny too I really dislike him as President #FDT

Cutesy Spawn? Why not? They make this cute stuff out of everything now. Why? I don’t know. It’s entertains and I got a great deal on my copy. 5 Stars!
