Does this remove any amounts of iron from well water?

It does remove iron and many other contaminants. To do this correctly what you should do now is to take a sample of your water and send it to a lab. Once you receive the lab report look for anything that has an unusually high level that might be a health concern. If you do find contaminants that are not acceptable then you need a whole-home filter system on the mail water line, then you can still use this filter to get you water sparkling clean.

Does this filter effectively remove iron?

I don't know. All I know is that it stopped me from itching after a shower
