... true or not (there wasnt any point reading the good reviews really)
I read all the negative reviews as i waited to see if they were true or not (there wasnt any point reading the good reviews really) , and im NOT a fan of flimsy cheap stuff, so once the tool arrived i tested it right away to see how it will work and hold up against this hard tough #11 leather that im working with. The tool is solid, strong, and not flimsy... (if it breaks as i use it which i doubt, ill come right back, erase my review and let everybody know about it). It doesnt cut a clean hole all the way through but thats fine, take a toothpick or something similar and push the piece through. The little circles get stuck inside but that isnt a big deal either, same remedy, take a needle or a toothpick and push it right out, OR just keep punchin holes and the garbage will come out on its own from the back. Final thiughts: ive used other hole punchers that are AAABSOLUTE trash, and this isnt one of um, i recommend it... 'for now.Okay, here is the continuation of the review, ready? Here we go, PART 2: one of the orange handles came off, the other one is still very solid, no problem the thing still worked. Next, the metal piece on the side that holds the wheel in place and makes that clicking noise when you turn the wheel? Broke! Now, what s left is the rest and im still able to use the tool, however, i dont have the convenience of making holes without making sure the wheel doesnt turn, AAAND i have to set it in place each time i make a hole. Final thoughts- im keeping the tool, ill be able to use it in the future but i just gotta wonder, what do those professional leather people use out there?! Would i recommend this tool? For thinner leathers yes, for thickest leathers i dont know what to tell ya, it did the job but i had to go through some bumps on the road. There MUST be a really tough serious tool out there for this ๐ i can almost picture it ๐ all stainless steel heavy shiny and smooth operating... or is that just how id like it made? ๐ i give up, i really do๐

Works great
After reading all those 1 star reviews, I was hesitant in ordering one, but I figured the item was cheap and said to myself, why not? The item arrived in 2 days, well packaged and the first thing I noticed was how heavy this thing is. Most of the 1 star reviews stem from not being able to cut and breaking easy. To those buyers contemplating in buying this, those complaints can be avoided if you just use the pliers properly. Before using it, make sure that the cutting surface is totally parallel to the anvil part. If it comes in contact with the anvil at an angle (even by a little), it would not cut a perfect circle. Worse, you will damage the cutting surface because of the extra force exerted onto a small part of the blade. Some reviews also stated it would not cut normal thickness belt because of the clearance. One advise--- release the clamp prior to using it. This pliers come with a clamp to hold it close for storage. With it closed, the clearance is what the reviewers said--- 1-2 mm. With it open, it can accomodate 10 mm thick belts. The only complaint that I have is the size of the smallest hole. It says it is 2 mm, but it actually cuts a bigger hole.

Cheap, easily broken
The wheel shattered to bits while I attempt to punch through thin vinyl. I have extremely weak hands, so it certainly wasnโt due to my brute strength.

Easy to use. Useful for cosplay and modifying fashion
I love this tool, it's so useful and there really is nothing else when you have a belt that is too big or too small or for the craft I bought it for, which was punching holes in cosplay armor to sew onto clothes. The only problem is the pieces of the material you punch get stuck in the black shafts of the tool and are hard to get out. I think it has seven year old cosplay thermoplastic and little old pieces of leather stuck in it that occasionally fall out and get around my room and confuse me. But it is easy to use and adjust and overall a very satisfying tool. Before getting this I used to ruin too big leather belts by just shoving scissors into them to make holes *cringe* and I'm never going back.
