Serviceable IWB holster for your J-frame, with a few obvious caveats.
It's a DeSantis, so it's a well-made holster for $20. The clip is heavy duty and locks around your belt - Great feature for an open-top IWB holster, though it's tough to get it over it if you use a thick, CCW-type belt - That just means the holster isn't going anywhere. My usual gripe in this style/price range that the clip is too sharp on the edge persists here.Unlike some other "J-frame" holsters I have run into, this definitely fits one well. I can confirm it fits both a Model 36 or a Model 637 Airweight. It does not fit my K-frame Model 10 - A common beef I have with low-cost J-frame holsters, they are often so loose that my Model 10 fits better than the J-frames. It does not have any real sort of retention but does fit the gun snugly, but probably less as it gets older. This may or may not be an issue for you. Personally I use a belt as retention for an open top IWB holster but if you don't like your belt snug, I imagine your firearm may come out if you were running. Maybe. Anyways that's a no-no so if you think you might be running for your life or chasing someone down, something with active retention is a better choice. As others have noted, your gun will ride low in the holster and present itself very little. For concealment purposes this is fantastic. If you are less worried about concealment and more concerned with accessibility, this might not be the holster for you. I prefer 3:30 IWB to AIWB, so I can't speak on whether or not it works there, but it sure seems like it does.Obvious limitations aside, it's a solid option in the $20 holster range. It's better than most in the price range.

Nice holster, Loose fit
The holster is well made and quality leather, the belt clip is very strong. The only problem I have is the revolver I am using it for is a loose fit and slides out. I know the holster will form to the gun in time from wearing it and body heat and sweat, just doesn't fit secure at the moment.

Low presentation
This fits my revolver fine, it just presents it's grip on the waistline making it hard to draw, nothing some training couldn't overcome though.

I read before buying that a bunch thought it was too low and they could not get a good grip on the gun to draw
This is the only holster that will let the firearm ride very low in your pants during appendix carry. With the grip of the gun lower, I can sit ok and the gun doesn't dig into me. Pus barely prints because there is not much grip above the waistline. I read before buying that a bunch thought it was too low and they could not get a good grip on the gun to draw. Well yes that is partly true. The draw is not super fast and super smooth like a holster riding much higher. But you can still draw it! Just need to put your fingers in your pants to get them around the grip. Takes only and extra second. Remember, you will wear this all day, maybe everyday or part of a rotation, so it has to be comfortable and needs to conceal well. Chances are (please G-d) we will never have to draw the weapon in a life threatening situation, so don't only look for the fastest draw. It needs to be comfortable first. You can still draw this quickly, just takes an extra second and a little wiggle to get going. You will be comfortable and conceal, and still be able to defend yourself should you need to (I hope you never have to though). Stay safe!

Excellent Holster
The Desantis "Insider" is an excellent holster for IWB carry. I own several and they are very well made, durable and comfortable. If this is your preferred method of carry, this is the best holster that I've found in 20 years of professional carry experience. There simply is no better.I just received my "Insider" holster for my S&W mod 640 and would like to add this update. First of all be mindful that this holster is for either the 2 1/2" or 2 1/4" J-frames, not the older model J's. Secondly, the belt clip is positioned far too high. I understand that the clip is supposed to be higher but it is placed so high that it places the butt under your beltline. With all that said, these ate still great IWB holsters--confortable, well-made and minimal. This is still my first choice for most of my handguns, but not for my 640. For that, I'll just stick with my Don Hume IWB.

Don't bother
Desantis makes great holsters but this one just plain old sucks. The materials are good but the execution is terrible. It makes the gun ride so low you have to do some finger mojo to get it out. Spend a little more and get the Inside Heat model and you'll be much happier.

Most comfortable holster for a J frame
This is by far the most comfortable holster I’ve had for my 340. A lot of the complaints on this holster is that it rides very low and makes it hard to draw, but the low positioning is what makes the holster so comfortable. It puts the majority of the bulk below the belt line and the grip hugs around the belt nice and comfortably. Yes, it takes more effort to draw, but you can still draw it and it takes away a lot of the awkwardness in seated positions. If you can deal with the extra effort in the draw, this is the holster to get.
