I bought these to see if they'd help make my bunion feel better. I've only had them for a couple of days but they do work.The material is soft and pliable. If you understand that, they will NOT easily tear. If I did not understand the material and tried to put them on as if it was made of stronger material, then sure, they'd tear VERY easily but with some care, they appear to be designed well enough to last a reasonable length of time. When I put them on, I do not pull it on the toe because if you do, it will tear because it fits snuggly against the toe. I stretch it over the toe, the bring it down. I ONLY pull the flap down over the bunion AFTER it is on the toe. When putting on the sock, roll the sock up so you can get the sock over the toe before you pull the sock onto the rest of the foot and you won't tear the product.

A number of reviewers said they bought this item on a promotion. I paid full price and they are worth every penny. I play a lot of golf and, even though I always wear shoes with a wide toe box, the bunions on both of my feet would start to rub raw before the end of my round. These bunion protectors are soft and extremely comfortable. I have not had any problems with my bunions since I started wearing them. Although they take up a bit of space in the toe box of my shoe, it is not a problem. I had previously tried a number of other products but they either did not work or they were so uncomfortable that I stopped wearing them. Although I buy a number of items from Amazon, I rarely write a review. But this item is so exceptional that I wanted to pass on the word to other bunion sufferers.

I had to modify the way the neoprene spacer fits the big toe by removing the the part that goes over the toe as it was very uncomfortable and was causing rubbing and pain. After cutting the spacer to fit just by placing it between the two toes and held in place by my sock it does relive the pain and stays in place. The material is very soft and comfortable when modified.

These will protect your feet from friction from shoes, but not strong enough to do anything structural to your feet. Made of soft silicon.
