49200E Rock Salt Ice Melter, 25-Pound

After what turned out to be the absolute worst blizzard in Chicago for the past 10 years, me and the maintenance staff were at our wit's end trying to figure out how to defrost all the accumulating ice and snow that were taking over our deck. Someone suggested Ice Melt after the salt couldn't get rid of it. I had never used it nor needed it. I poured a little of it onto a deck and the ice immediately started pouring down onto the level below. Although I found out the hard way to start at the top and work your way down because it works IMMEDIATELY, this was a good investment. I keep hearing from power washers that salt is not great on wood. I'm assuming ice melt isn't doing wood any favors either. But when your deck is a sheet of ice and you need to break it up, this is the best way to go.

It is in a sturdy bag and easy to lift and store away.

this is rock salt. not much to say about it, except that it arrives intact, melts ice, and saves you from driving to Sears or your hardware store to get it.It costs a bit more than your local options, but it arrives intact. i actually recommend it for those Amazon Prime members like myself who work fairly long hours and might be a little bit lazy and appreciate UPS doing the heavy lifting.In the end, this is a bag of salt. The bags that I have ordered, (now 8+), have always arrived intact.

I ordered the product to be prepared for the winter snow vortex since local stores were out. the item cost $5 at the time but the shipping was $33, and it arrived after the snow vortex was over (7-10 days later). I'm sure the product is fine, but if you want to order it online from this supplier, be prepared to pay 6x the cost of product for shipping. I'm sure the product itself is okay, but its too late for me to use it for a true determination, (but (in my opinion) its definitely not worth the shipping price!!)

I have no major complaints about this product, its rock salt. What I didn't like about it was the size of the salt. Each piece of salt is fairly large (about the size of a small marble), which some people might prefer but personally I didn't like. It felt like I ran through the bag very quickly. All in all though a fine product, and if you prefer large salt pieces than this product would be prefect.

For the size of bag the price is great and we had our first snow/ice the other morning but I knew about the possibility of it and the night before I put down salt on drive way and walks and they were just about clear when I woke up and the roads were still a mess. Great product.

Bought this when everything else was sold out at end of winter from hell. These are very large rock size pieces of salt, they don't dissolve right away and kill plants easy. I recommend crushing before applying. Good, not great, it is what it is, large salt
