Great Webinars: Create Interactive Learning That Is Captivating, Informative, and Fun

Promotional book for NetSpeed Learning Solutions
This book contained many good ideas, but it felt like it was self-published. First, it constantly mentioned the business that the writer owns, NetSpeed Learning Solutions. The book felt like one long infomercial. Next, the layout looked like somebody did it in a self-publishing application. The layout was dated, and titles of sources were actually underlined like in the old days when you used a typewriter. (Why not use italics for titles?) I wouldn't pay the price for this book again. It was not a cheap book. It was too expensive for what you got. While it was helpful, it felt like it was published by an amateur.

Subtitle: Cynthia Clay is great and has amazing resources at her disposal.
This guide is very valuable for those who need to know what a webinar is, have never been a part of a webinar at all and have a lot of money invested in their IT infrastructure. Her solutions rely on very fast connections and a support staff willing to assist you with your Webinar: If you are a single individual with a limited budget, this gives you a laundry list of "wants" and a limited set of tools to make your presentation slightly less mundane. There is a significant amount of self-congratulatory material that, to me, borders on hubris. Perhaps thinking highly of yourself is one of the hidden keys in being a more effective host for your webinar.I would recommend this material for people who are just starting in the world of webinars, have amazing hardware/software/internet connections, and at least one person assigned to assist you. Also recommended for fans of Cynthia Clay who need to hear how well she's doing.

Great place to learn about webinars
I've read eight books on webinars in the past two months and this is one of the best. Not only does it give you the reasons why you do things differently in a virtual environment, but it gives you a flowing example throughout the book of what a good presentation might look like. I found this extremely helpful in getting my head around what it means to be a virutal presenter and how to prepare for giving a live presentation online. I'm making it required reading for all the people in my organization who want to do webinars.

Practical Advice: This is a must read before your next webinar
I just finished reading Cynthia Clay's book on Great Webinars. The book is full of practical and straight-forward advice. You can tell that she has experience running many webinars and she is nice enough to share her lessons learned.I'm a traditional classroom trainer and recently moved into running webinars. I quickly realized that webinars are a different beast...and you need to apply different techniques to keep the webinar running and keep the students engaged.I can't wait to apply some of these new techniques. Thanks Cynthia :-)

GREAT INFORMATION and IDEAS
Loved this book for ideas on how to add to and spice up virtual training for my organization. I am limited to what our software can do however it opened up many ideas to me and I have incorporated many of them into a Virtual Instructor Course I have rewritten for my organization. I read Cynthia clays previous version and went to order that one but was very glad I got this book instead.

A webinar book on Kindle, great idea
The book cover the basics clearly, concisely, and right on target. You really cannot go wrong with the information. The fact that she published it electronically makes it even better.A solid effort.

Still Applicable Today
When I saw the 2012 publication date in the small print of Great Webinars, I frankly thought it may be outdated. I could not have been more wrong. During the last year and a half, I've attending more online calls, e-conferences, and virtual trainings then ever before in my life, and let me tell you, this book proved prophetic. It still very much applies to today's world.Cynthia Clay takes a pragmatic approach with Great Webinars. She first addresses everything that can go wrong with online facilitation. She then provides solutions to those mishaps. She delves into audience, objectives, and interactions as well. She also lends advice concerning PowerPoints, discusses learning transfer, and offers ways to overcome technology trauma. Does any of this sound applicable to your current state?Honestly, I didn't even know this level of online training occurred in 2012. If you play any role at all in any method of online education, you will not be disappointed with Great Webinars.
