One of the best reading on CT on the market. Flaws easily identifiable - and acceptable.
An eye-opener. A pleasant contrast from shallow, pompous, self-repeating nonsense that is 90+% literature on the subject. Did not hope to find so many practical ideas and routines for daily, periodic and life-planning decision making. This book is deep - while still accessible, no quasi-scholarly b***t, (that makes a great reading). I would say, 3/4 information is objective, 1/4 is leftist (like, you go sacrifice your basic interests for the benefit of complete strangers, and You are going to do fine. While, in reality you will be overtaken, taken for a ride and forced into servitude by savage street-wise people and groups who never care to read any book, let alone consider anyone else's interest, and generally laugh in the face of ethics and morals - while constituting 50+% of the World's population. So beware of leftist indoctrination). Having that said, i still knowingly give the book its well-deserved 'Five Stars'. Why? The sheer quantity of quality and practical info is real huge. And, as a reader embracing critical reasoning, you immediately see the leftist and self-defeating statements and recommendations, skipping through them laughingly to the more meritorious passages meriting studious and thorough perusal. With the latter, again, forming 3/4 of book's content. Thank you, authors for a great job!

even though I found nothing at all of a political nature in this wonderful, very practical book
If by the "liberal agenda" Michael refers to in his very negative review, he means a political philosophy or worldview founded on ideas of liberty and the importance of equality, as well as ideas and programmes such as freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion, civil rights, democratic societies, secular governments, gender equality and international cooperation, which the term "liberal" usually refers to, I expect that the authors might agree with him, even though I found nothing at all of a political nature in this wonderful, very practical book. Why might they agree? Because critical thinking probably, much more often than not, tends strongly to lead to these values and processes. Given his apparent rejection of these probable consequences of critical thinking, liberal values and processes, I wonder if he would care to describe the values and processes that he prefers and advocates for instead. The opposites of these, I presume? Based on what evidence and reasoning?

Thinking like a liberal
From Chapter 1 on, it is clear that the operational definition of critical thinking in this text is any thought process that will lead you to agree with a liberal agenda. There is very little on the well-validated limitations of human cognitive processes that need to be understood and addressed when trying to critically evaluate an issue and avoid biases. The premise of this book seems to be that thinking critically is only possible from a liberal perspective, a position that I find indefensible.

Interesting
Still reading it as time permits. My wife doesn't give me the respect to pursue my college studies. It is not important to her, so it isn't important.

This book is an outstanding read. In a world where so many authors take existing information and repackage it, this author is full of fresh original thoughts and lessons on how one can improve ourselves. Note: Dont plan on this being a quick read. Its a tough book to get through because the concepts are new and take time to absorb. I'm on track to reading this book over a six month period. Everypage is worth contemplating over.
