My daughter got one of these dogs and so I gave her this book and she liked it.

A very up-to-date, comprehensive and complete book on everything related to golden retrievers. Having been a golden breeder for 40 years I bought several copies to keep on hand to pass out to puppy buyers but I now realize I need to buy more copies to pass out to my boarding clients. This book is ideal for first time (and even experienced) golden owners, people who foster goldens and new golden breeders or exhibitors. It is reasonably priced and easy to hand out and has been greatly appreciated by my golden owning friends. No matter how long you have been in "goldens," you will learn something new from this book.

Gave this book to our Grandson age 10 who just got himself a new Golden Retriever puppy. Not only is he reading it, but his parents are using it for reference as well. They seem to think the info is spot on!

we bought this book to help us prepare for our golden puppy and it has been a wonderful resource. the author does a great job of covering most of the bases and I often refer back to it. We added a Golden Retriever puppy to our family so I purchased this book beforehand to educate myself on the breed. Super informative! Keep in mind it is written in European English (I thought there were typos at first until I realized that). There were a few very minor typos, but the information was priceless!

Good book overall, but wish it had more training tips.

Even though the book is titled "The Complete Golden Retriever Handbook," I found it a great read for anyone wanting to train their dog! Sure, there's useful information about Goldens in general, but I was amazed at the general knowledge presented. It's not a thick book & it's not a boring book. If you're planning to own a Golden Retriever, I'd recommend this book, as Linda Whitwam covers everything you can think of.

Lo consiglio PRIMA di affrontare l'adozione di un golden, in modo da conoscere le principali caratteristiche. Il testo è in bianco e nero, tratta in modo molto puntuale tutto ciò che riguarda questa razza mettendo in evidenza anche gli aspetti "negativi". Fa riferimento a standard e allevatori britannici/americani (non italiani). L'inglese è semplice e di lettura piuttosto scorrevole. Peccato che le immagini non siano a colori.

Our family had a couple of golden retrievers and this book still has so much information, that is essential to raising a happy and healthy dog. It definitely points out the importance of knowing where your dog comes from. Who is the breeder, where do they got they dogs from, how to identify puppy mills and what it needs to have a healthy dog. If you don't have any experience with golden retriever and you just consider the dog because it looks pretty and is one of the most popular breeds, make sure it does fit into your family and your lifestyle. A golden needs to exercise a lot, wants to be part of the family and needs a lot of stimulation, especially when they are young. If you don't have the time for that, that is not the right dog for you. This book is essential to read before you get the golden or if you better buy a turtle.

You'll even find helpful information on caring for your pet when it reaches its elder years. It is set out in easy to read, detailed chapters and gives you insight from breeders old and new, here in the UK and from America, who between them have a wealth of knowledge along with years of experience. It also delves into the history and traits of this wonderful breed and helps answer many questions that don't come easily to mind when choosing a puppy along with covering many health issues you may come across or should be aware of when owning a dog. A great addition for any Golden Retriever owner and at an affordable price.
