Lent and Easter Wisdom from Thomas Merton: Daily Scripture and Prayers, Together with Thomas Merton's Own Words

This book is compiled in a spiritually powerful way. I am not a big fan of devotionals but I like Merton so I thought I would give it a try. The Merton selections & supporting texts are excellent considerations for the Lent season.

This book is an excellent guide through lent. Each daily reflection features a brief excerpt from Thomas Merton's writing, a scripture passage, some questions to ponder and a question to respond to in a lenten journal.I've loved reading and reflecting briefly on all these elements. The only part I've stopped using are the questions for the Lenten Journal. My mind just doesn't work in that way. Lent and Easter Wisdom from Thomas Merton

We are using this as our Lenten study at home and at church. Nice format and the author is wonderful.

It's just okay. I was expecting more substantive readings from Merton. It's a decent daily reflection with readings and psalms, and a reading from Merton. But the Merton passages are brief and there is a lot of other material (Scripture, etc) in the book. I just found it different from what I expected

I have always been a follower of Merton....knew him when I was a teenager and served his Mass back in the 50's.

I've already read half the book. I plan on reading it daily through Lent and start a journal as suggested.

This Lenten book with Merton wisdom is a pearl. Relevant to daily living and spiritual growth. Profound and practical. Very helpful for a daily Lenten practice.

great for spiritual growth during the Lenten season. Although I might not agree with everything this theologian says, it is highly worthy of the season for growth in the faith God has given to us. This whole series of books by Liguori, including the one by John Paul II, is worth the read and reflection whether you are Catholic with a upper case "C" or a lower case "c"

What a fabulous way to journey through Lent. Plenty of food for thought to feast on as you make your way to Easter.
