Unbelievable
I loved this book !! It started a with a seed and built to a beautiful flower garden. Will I be able to forget these wonderful characters or will pick this book up read it over again many times. I think both will be true.Unexpected is all I can say. Does true love always win out in the end, maybe, that is what you'll need to find out.A strong character in Lydia and a equality passionate one in Ned. Certainly they go together or do they. I really like everyone in this story. Connie sometimes you take my breath away. I will allow you to eat, sleep and write such a natural ability to share a story can't be wasted on anything else, it flows through your body like life giving blood. Thank you again for taking me away from everyday life.

Not my favorite Brockway but still sweet
This romance does not have the depth of character or plot as most of Ms Brockway's books. Nonetheless, I still like the Hero & Heroine and the romance is there but you really don't get a chance to know them on a deeper level. Some of the secondary characters have no point (Sarah). The Villain is thrown in randomly as though there were not enough pages to conclude the story. The HEA is rather convoluted. At least there is nothing inherently annoying like many romances.

So-So
This is only my second Connie Brockway novel. Like the first (So Enchanting), the premise of the novel is quite unique. I liked most of the characters and found both the H and h to be interesting. I did think the novel went on much too long, however. And the final twist at the end was unnecessary in my opinon. I also could have done without Childe Smith's perspective. I felt his chapters were dull and failed to make him into a sympathetic character. All-in-all, the book was just so-so. It was far from the worst historical novel I have read, but it isn't one I will be revisiting.

The characters were really fleshed out, but my major applause for Ms. Brockway is her sense of humor and how she drives the hero and the heroine.

Excellent
What else can I say about Connie Brockway, all her books are well worth reading. Some better than others, but all filled with talent, wonderful characters. She is a rare find in a field of average.

the golden season
I found this book pretty boring. I liked her other books a lot, this one was predictable at best. I did not enjoyed it. Sorry.
