Contemporary Scenes for Student Actors Paperback – July 31, 1980

Not really too wild about the selection of scenes in this book. Yes, the scenes chosen are contemporary, but the big misnomer is that they are for student actors (which is odd given that is part of the title of the book), as a good deal of the scenes are probably not suitable for high school due to either inappropriate subject matter and/or profanity.Each of the scenes contains a little snippet to give context to the scene, and the book divides the scenes into two men, two women, and one man and one women. There are some familiar authors and works in here too, such as Arthur Miller and Tennessee Williams. While there are some decent scenes, the collection over all is fairly mediocre.You could probably find a better of collection of scenes out there.

had to buy to for class which is annoying but the book has been great. it has all kinds of playwrights

I needed a book for acting class and this book has a lot of great scenes to work with.

I don't mind to buy used books, because it is more green, but I was very disappointed that I received this book with a different cover, not sure if it is the same thing as the new version of copy, and I found this book was $0.99 under a sticker. It'll be ok if the seller would have posted the actual photo on the website. I will need to return it. It was just a waste of my time to purchase this book, not worth it !

This book has a wide range of scenes - for 2 men, 2 woman, one man, one woman. Great scenes from old classics - The Lion in Winter, The Children's Hour, etc. If you don't want to do the same old scenes, this book is great. It's not a how-to, just the scenes. Schulman & Mekler are great anyway. They have other good compilations.
