Very soft, easy to install and release to clean
This seat is super cool. I recently got a new potty and the seat was killing my bony butt! This is soft and so much more comfortable. Plus it was unbelievably easy to put on. I mean my son did it for me with zero issues. The quick release allows you to pop it off and clean it so easily. We have had the seats that go down slowly on their own and loved them. We have dogs who think toilet water is yum! We always keep our lid down. Now this one isn't the auto, slow close but because of the padding you can just flip it closed. It will go faster but makes no bang or seems to be hard on the seat. I'll definitely buy another when I need it.

Comfort and Style
This is my second Mayfair soft toilet seat. The first one was round and outlasted the toilet It was on. I started using this type of seat because it's comfortable, very well made, easy to clean because you can take it right off in about two seconds and it goes back on Just as quickly. I was impressed by this brand and started buying this kind of seat because it not only looks good but is heavy-duty and the parts can all be replaced very easily. I got tired of buying toilet seats where the hinges broke easily and you had to throw the whole thing away because there were no replacement parts, etc. and to date, I can say that I haven't had this problem at all with this seat or the one that preceded it. It's a very comfortable seat and has a good amount of padding, I'm a big guy and it's comfortable for me. The padding and its cover are holding up very well, clean easily, and seem to be very durable. I plan on buying this brand again should I have the need for another seat in the future.

Alas, the seat won't stay up
So here's the thing. Some people have reported no problem with the seat staying up (for you guys to do your thing), and others say the seat falls down. This is all going to be based on the shape of your tank! My tank is curved, with the outside edges kind of curling forward - therefore, the seat cover only goes up just so far, and then the actual seat does not stay up, because the nice padding adds bulk. This is a shame, as otherwise I found this to be a good seat (I was tired of sitting down on an ice block). It was easy to install and looked like it would be a great solution. I imagine it would have been pretty comfy. Mine did not have any of the defects (tears) that others reported out of the package. But that pesky seat wouldn't stay up for the menfolk, darn it, so back it went. Fortunately, it was easy enough to return in the original box, and my money was quickly refunded by Amazon. Had the seat stayed up, I would have rated this a 5-star.

NEEDS QUALITYCONTROL
WELL HERE WE GO AGAIN, THESE PADDED TOILET SEAT COVERS BASICALLY LAST LESS THAN A YEAR AS THE PADDED SEATS ALWAYS TEARS OR SPLITS. SOMTIMES IN A FEW MONTHS BUT THIS TIME ALMOST A YEAR AND I BUY ONE EVERY YEAR, WHY CAN'T THEY MAKE THEM WITH A SOME PADDING THAT ACTUALLY LASTS 1 YEAR. IT IS COSTLY AND I AM 85 AND THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR QUITE A FEW YEARS, SOMEBODY SHOULD FIGURE A WAY TO MAKE THEM LAST NOT SPLIT OPEN

Works great, very comfortable
I bought this after spending an insane amount of time on the toilet with a 36 hour flu. I will spare you the details but I thought I might die, I fainted multiple times while sitting on the toilet and puking into a trash can - it was horrible. My old toilet seat was not going to come back from this, it just needed to be thrown in the dumpster and/or burned. I bought this new seat because it's supposed to make cleaning the toilet easier, which is something I appreciate on a whole different level now. It actually works - you just twist the two knobs and the whole seat comes off, then you can bleach the toilet and clean it real good before putting the seat back on. And, in the event that you need to clean the seat, being able to remove it helps in that regard too. It's comfortable, the quality is good, it holds my 265 lb. ass up, and it makes cleaning much easier.

Best seat ever!
After years of our old toilet seat I decided it was time for a new upgrade. I wanted something soft but not the ones that are filled with air and deflate when you sit on them and all you are left with is a hard flat seat, the same as before. This seat does not do that at all! Even my 11 year old noticed that it was so much more comfortable now than before. When you sit on it, it does not deflate and Instead keeps its soft cushy form. I highly recommend this seat to anyone lookin for an upgrade. It was easy to install as well and Iโve never installed a toilet seat before so if I can do it, anyone can.

Seam ripped - No satisfaction from vendor or Amazon
I should have believed the one-star reviews but since there were only two that said the seams on this seat ripped, I took a chance. I should have read the two and three star reviews as is my normal practice. Five more folks had the same problem and I suspect one 5-star was a satirical "glowing" review of a product he really was dissatisfied with. In any case I used the product for just over the thirty day cut-off for Amazon's "A to Z Guarantee" when it failed. Neither the vendor or Amazon wished to make it right. I seems to me that ANY manufacturer should stand by their product (especially a 'hard goods' product like this) for longer than 30 days. I replied to Amazon's refusal to back up the quality of their product with a request that they discontinue dealing with this vendor. I'll update later. Update - I was surprised when Amazon only responded with refusal to discuss the matter further. My only agenda was to help them improve their service. I told them I didn't need to return the product, I just wanted them to review quality issues. Their reply seemed to be a boilerplate email. They are usually much, much better at customer relations. As an insight, I've been an Amazon Prime member for several years.

The best mediocre solution out there
I've purchased many a Mayfair soft toilet seat over the years, because, well, to be honest, there aren't really many companies out there producing these seats, and Mayfair seems to be the best of them. That, of course, isn't really saying much though, because, as I've experienced time and time again, the foam in the seat loses its firmness pretty quickly, with the seat starting to lose height within several months. This happens even more quickly if the seat ends up developing a tear, as they're prone to do. The last negative point about these seats is that the seams where the top and bottom vinyl join are towards the middle of the inner and outer ring, and tend to be pretty sharp/rough. So, unless you sand them down a bit (not too much, or you'll risk making it more tear-prone), you'll have to be careful not to cut yourself. So, what's good about these? Well, I mean, while they work, they're nice and cushy. The design of these has also changed over the years such that the hinges now are a simple lock and pop mechanism, making it easier to take them off for cleaning, and also, easier to replace when the time to do that inevitably comes.
