It contains the actual 1st edition principia discordia
This book exceeded my expectations. It's a wealth of knowledge for anyone wanting to get a little more knowledge of our friend Eris.

As soon to be seen on <Fnord> and Friends and maybe endorsed by the AMA!
This is a history of malleable Truths that have been on occasion self evident, and frequently irreverent. Being the story of Truths inspired by She Who Probably Ought Not Be Named (aka: Eris) and delivered to Certain People whilst bowling and consuming beer, it may cause damage to your current memplex if you the reader lack the requisite mental agility required by exposure to the Sacred Chao. It also was in part created on a typewriter, mimeographed, subsequently photocopied, and therefore doubly [CENSORED].If you have never read the Illuminatus Trilogy, know nothing of the lost continent of Mu, didn't understood the fifth appendix in Anathem, or frequently eat "food" at McDonalds, They Will Come For You if you attempt to read this. Or perhaps you need a comfortable chair. This is a book you should not read. It will potentially damage your perceptions of reality, cause you to question long held beliefs, and has been accused of inciting male pattern baldness and fondness for plaid. Since the book is in hardcopy fnord, it also means extra work for the Conspiracy, as they will need to sneak into your house at night to make appropriate changes without your knowledge instead of simply pushing out electronic updates via the orbiting mind control lasers. The Senate Wives Committee has determined ##################[REDACTED]########## and subsequently discredited by the inherent truthiness of the concept. It is also important to not use all 23 of the little squares inserted into the middle of the book at once, or handle the sheet with damp hands. This is a fun read, I feel better for it, and adds greatly to my appreciation of other works of High Weirdness, Bob, and the pursuit of Slack. Share the book with friends; if they stay friends after reading it, you may get to be Popes together. If you want to, I mean. I'm not judging you.

A delicious slice of madness
I just picked up the Historia Discordia. It's cool! It's basically a catalog of vintage Erisian stuff that was gathering dust in Bob Newport's basement, including a ton of original Discordian correspondences and tracts. Tons of lost writings by Mal-2. Great coffee table book for the Discordian archivist or researcher.I've enjoyed tracing the evolution of a lot of the concepts in the PD. For example, there's that line in the PD about how Discordians don't have dogma, they have catma. And it turns out there's a whole little sermon about it that wasn't included in the PD and to my knowledge isn't on the net anywhere. There are a lot of 1st edition PD pages which were revised several times before the 5th edition we're familiar with. A lot of the jokes and 1-liners from the PD are referencing other Discordian documents which have been lost, until now.For those of us interested in the genealogy of this whackadoo contraption, this is really satisfying. It gives a sense about what the first Discordian communities were like, and who the key players were. (something I've always been curious about) It's also pretty cool to see the early much rougher drafts of some of the texts we're familiar with.Definitely recommend this for the archivists, collectors, and insane hoarders that get stuck in Eris' orbit.

A valuable addition to the Discordian library
I'm on page 77 of 286, and so far this has been the best addition to my Compilation of Truth since the Principia. The Historia Discordia builds and expands upon the original material without being repetitive. If you, like me, have read anything Discordian-related you can get your hands on cover-to-cover multiple times, this is a must. If you've read the Principia Discordia once and want more, this is a great choice.Of course I've skimmed ahead a bit and am very much looking forward to the essays on Operation MindF**k. There is also a section of Holy Books which includes works alluded to in the Principia: "How I Found Goddess", "The Honest Book of Truth", and "The Epistle to the Paranoids", along with more details on Starbuck, St. Gulik, and Greyface.Even the heretical SubGeninii can enjoy this book. "Bob" makes an appearance on the colorful front cover as well as within the pages. Be warned that the pretty pictures on the cover will attract the attention of Pinks.Hail Eris! Praise "Bob"! Hail yourself!

Excellent
If you're into Discordianism, you will not be disappointed. This book consists of largely primary sources, i.e. the actual and original previously unpublished documents of Discordianism. Of particular interest is what seems to be the entire "Honest Book of Truth" consisting of The Book of Uterus, The Book of Explanations, The Book of Predictions, The Book of Advice, The Book of Gooks, and The Gospel According to Fred. The Honest Book of Truth is quoted tantalizingly in the Principia Discordia and the Illuminatus Trilogy, but I didn't know the whole thing even existed. While the above-mentioned Honest Book of Truth is "only" 13 pages of the text (out of 287 pages), the page size is larger than 8.5 inches by 11 inches (standard "American"-sized paper). As a POPE myself, I officially announce the inclusion of the Historia Discordia as part of the Discordian Canon.

Stick this on the shelf next to your PD and the Illuminatus trilogy
A good read full of Erisian history! I respect the weirdos who put this together, and hope no one turns them into a pigeon or anything for attracting our goddess' attention.

Think for Yourself Schmuck!
If you are a Dadaist or otherwise satirical anarchist, this is required reading. To quote Alan Moore - gleefully aggressive sanity in a chaotic and incoherent world. Hail Eris!

Making of Diskordianismus: Nur für Fortgeschrittene?! Fnord.

The Discordian bible and Rosetta Stone
Given access to an unbelievable archive of Discordian material, this book is absolutely indispensible to anyone with an interest in the subject. Well done to Adam Gorightly for putting all this together as well as providing a well written and suitably funny commentary that manages to make some sense out of what seems like utter chaos!
