Valuable Part of My Home Security Measures
I ordered and mounted this security bar to fit 36" doors for my master bedroom door (i.e. my "safe room" in the house) and then ordered and mounted the security bar for double French doors for my front doors. The bars are exactly as described and pictured; strong with a beautiful finish and includes two 4 3/4" L-Screws which you screw into the studs of the house and which hold the bar in place. If the bar is mounted as the instructions specify, criminals will not be able to kick in the doors without repeated efforts. We have been having an increased number of home invasions in my area where the criminal(s) know people are inside and choose to break in anyway. These security bars are important additions to the home security measures I use to make my home not worth the trouble for the criminal to attempt to break in and to decide it isn't a "soft" target to rob----at least slowing the criminal down sufficiently to give me time to call 911, run, hide or fight for my personal safety and defense. NOTE: mount the bar at the level a person attempting to kick in the door would be kicking. Follow the clear directions included with the security bars and do use a 7/16 drill bit to drill the holes for the 4 3/4" L-screws (they are very large and anchor into the studs of the house). I did use a pipe wrench to turn the L-screws to the correct depth since I don't have a great deal of hand strength and the pipe wrench definitely gave me sufficient leverage to screw in the large L-screws. To place the security bar you merely seat the holes at the ends of the bar over the L-screws; to remove the bar, you merely lift the bar off the L-screws. I have not mounted one of these security bars on my back door since if I have a medical emergency while alone and cannot get to the door to let the first responders inside, security bars on both entry doors at the same time would complicate and delay entry when time may be of the essence. I store the bar close to the door when it isn't being used. I definitely believe these steel security bars are a valuable part of my home security measures and are a good investment in peace of mind and safety.

Solid but has extremely big bolts - too big.
Edit to my review below: Customer service for this company thinks I was complaining in my previous review, when in fact I was just letting people know so they don't have to go through the hassle of returning. They obviously don't make mention in their post that the rail needs be a certain width in order to not split, which is a consideration I hadn't given but I am no carpenter either. Thus, if you must order this product, do so from another seller. And make sure the bolt is properly sized.I returned due to the size of the screws that are supposed to be bolted on the sides. They are extremely long which serves its purpose, but they are also extremely thick. The side panels on the door in the picture may appear wide enough to securely fasten the bolts, but on my door these panels are a bit thinner and surely would have been split had I attempted to install. It looks like a great product and I wanted to be a fan, but be aware you will need thick side panels.

excellent security
This is a great brute-force answer to security for our garage service door. It was simple to install, and since we planned to have something like this security bar, we had the contractor put extra layers of 2x4's in the door frame. This allowed us to put the "screws" into very solid lumber instead of through the frame of the door. The bar is so simple and secure. It came to us promptly and in excellent shape. I highly recommend this seller.

Gap between door and bar creates potential for expensive repairs if door is kicked
Yes it will probably restrict entry from an invader, but at the cost of expensive repairs to door jamb and trim when door is kicked

The product is good and performs well
The product is good and performs well, but the price is too high for 2 gate pins and a 3' piece of 2" light gauge steel.

Great product
I am very happy I made this purchase. It was simple to install the hardware with a large drill bit to accommodate the large screws. It's easy to use, seems very strong and is more attractive than other similar products. I bought it to stop a break in but realize now it would also be good protection from strong winds from storms. And the shipping was super fast.
