The brightest available is still right dim, and you have to buy two, even if you only need one. A halogen bulb is much cheaper, and the savings on power-consumption may not justify this purchase. I didn't bother to do the math, but you might.

The led light was a perfect replacement for the quartz bulbs that were in the fixtures before. The best part was there was no where near the amount of heat from these bulbs as from the original incandescent. This was a big plus since the fixture was a sconce on a wallpapered wall where there were scorch marks from the original bulb's heat. It also helped that the energy usage was less than 30% of the incandescent bulb.

Tried to use it for long term room lighting but the end would crack and it would fail. Not very bright, mot much heat

My light fixtures were harder than crap to change the bulbs in. Like these bulbs.

I ordered them to replace my existing halogen bulbs. I only ordered the 5 watt led bulbs thinking they would be bright enough. I’ve got several more of the fixtures these bulbs will go in around my house. I will most probably order the 10 watt version for the other locations to get a brighter light, but these are fine for where they are located.
