Can you use just the left side to make and receive calls while the right is charging? Do both have microphones?

Please note that you can take calls only via right side earbud, and this is intended to be.

It is a common feature and It’s a result of how the Bluetooth connection is handled between separate earpieces.

We actually design to use either earbud for mono mode but canceled eventually.

Because either side has a Bluetooth chipset, we want to avoid the confusion among three-point connection.

So we decided to preset the two earbuds together, which means there's a master and a slave, the left earbud is not available to connect with devices on purpose.

In that way, when you take the earbuds out of the case, the left side will connect to right automatically, and only master(right earbuds) is showed in Bluetooth menu. Thus to simplify all the connection, which we called push n go.

Only the right side could be used as a mono mode.

If not, you need to manually set up left and right before pairing with devices.

Question 2

When I purchased these the description said 8 hours charge for the buds and 100 hours total playtime including the case. Now I'm seeing 5hr/40hrs?

The upgraded version provides 8 hrs playback on a single full charge, and you can recharge them via the case many many times. I have to say the estimates given of 8 and 100 are more or less accurate.

What is the "upgrade" made to this versus the regular liberty. And what is the difference between this and the plus?

Be advised that the main different difference from the Liberty is the playing time. For Zolo Liberty Upgraded, it is with the100 Hours of Power: Get 8 hours of playtime from a single charge, boosted to 100 with the included charging case; the Bluetooth version is 5.0. For the old version Zolo Liberty, it is with the 24 Hours of Power: Get 3.5 hours of playtime from a single charge, boosted to 24 with the included charging case; the Bluetooth version is 4.2.

Compared with the Liberty+, please note that Liberty+ is with the feature of the transparency and the App(Zolo Life), meanwhile,  it is with the 48 Hours of Power: Get 3.5 hours of playtime from a single charge then boost that to 48 with the included charging case.
