Love the slightly cheesy classics!
Such a fun classic, lots of fourth wall breaks adding a huge helping of cheese, but fun to watch.

I could watch this classic film every day...and to the classiest lady ever. Maureen O' Hara
This film conjours lots of then memories, of the the time when I was enjoying going to the Cinema in 1947 when I was a 9 years old boy. Imagine a small boy in the austere Britain just after WW2. Lovely. This my favourite of all Fantasy/Adventure films which were plenty in this era, and had all the things to please, The then most beautiful lady in the world, Maureen O' Hara,( look at her now, ) still beautiful. Douglas Fairbanks Jr, any lady would want someone like this hero to run off with. The tongue in cheek dialogue, is not as poo poo as some reviews have it, just carefully listen to it....it' s beautiful. Every actor is superb, even the minor ones. Roy Webbs beautiful music carries it along with gusto and romance, and of course, some sumptuious Technicolor, look at the beautiful color shots of the young Jane Greer. The finale, even now lifts me out of the seat, where Sinbad tells the the greedy merchants they don' t get his message, and then grabs his Shareen and the ship sails out to sea, a lovely shadow shot behind the sails as the end title comes up and Roy Webb' s music closes the curtains....This films hasn' t had too good a print over the years, but Warner has excelled themselves in this one, pristine transfer in sound and vision and color. No need for a Blu Ray. This excells.Oh!, just one other thing, If anyone nowadays think this is old fashioned to the new fantasy films, just remember, that Douglas Fairbanks Jr. flew in the air first, after being caught by a ROC bird, as he mentions to the merchants, indicating a previous Sinbad adventure. Thanks to all concerned for a lifetime of a wonderful film.Haylyn...UK

Sinbad Finds His North Star
This late-40s Fantasy film continues the swashbuckling exploits in a lush technicolor marvel like those found in "Thief of Bagdad", lavish sets done in wonderful colors that paint a sky and sea of a faraway land, with an outstanding cast of supporting players like George Tobias, Walter Slezak and a believable cad in Anthony Quinn. The main character is played to the fullest by Douglas Fairbanks who equals his father in his stunts .and creative escapes while mesmerizing the audience with a wild dream from the past heading into an unknown future. Isn't that what we all do? Sinbad pursues an elusive treasure whose secret may be around his shoulders; for a while it is the beautiful woman, played by Maureen O'Hara, who's never looked lovelier. The matte shots throughout are terrific especially the ones against an unearthly ocean. Does Sinbad find his quest? Will he give it all up for Shireen? Before he makes up his mind he escapes death several times with an unknown source. It is all fun, escapist fare for the hearty spectator who longs to search for treasure or love in his own dreams. If you remember other faces well you will find Jane Greer and Mike Mazurki in supporting roles and Brad Dexter un-credited. The real star of this film is the stunning cinematography and technicolor in every shot.

Doug Fairbanks looked a lot like Errol Flynn
I like when your delivery person drops off a package that they snap a pix of it and then eMail me even though we are not bothered here by porch pirates. I despaired of ever finding this classic gem and then to get it as usual at Amazon for such a low price w/ speedy delivery was great! Lots of well known old time actors and actresses in this the 7th voyage of Sinbad. I wonder how many voyages he really had?

Fun movie, poor DVD quality on Track 6 / 7.
This was a fun movie, but disc was damaged and hung on playback on track 3 and 5, then on 6 or 7 stopped completely until skipped over some key scenes.

Beautiful Restoration and Rousing Adventure!
This is one of those movies from my early youth which captivated me. It has been over 45 years since I saw it last and I have been waiting for a studio to transfer it to DVD. This is one outstanding transfer! The Technicolor restoration and transfer is as good as opening night at the theatre.Watching it through the lens of years, I noted the dialogue is somewhat more sophisticated than is generally found in films today. Douglas Fairbanks, Jr.'s performance is the very definition of over-the-top but he makes it work. Maureen O'Hara's character is no shrinking violet or damsel in distress; she is a player right along with big boys Anthony Quinn and Walter Slezak! The story tells of Sinbad's previously unheralded eighth voyage - only seven fantastic voyages were chronicled in the Arabian Nights. This last voyage reveals his origins as Prince Ahmed of Deryabar, the legendary island containing Alexander the Great's fabulous treasure, and his perilous adventure to re-claim that birthright.Sinbad the Sailor is a wonderful & wholesome adventure that every child of any age will enjoy.

Lots of Douglas Fairbanks Jr.
If you're expecting a special effects laden swashbuckler like the Ray Harryhausen movies, this ain't it. There is adventure, and an interesting plot (everyone thinks someone else has the map to fabulous treasure), and Maureen O'Hara of course is beautiful, and seeing a young and dashing Anthony Quinn is fun. Fairbanks overacts splendidly, as if he didn't realize this was a talkie. But it's more along the lines of "Marco Polo" with Gary Cooper than what we now think of as a Sinbad movie.

Excellent Flim
This was a favourite film of mine since childhood. So brilliantly over-acted by Douglas Fairbanks Jr. I would recommend this film to any person who still has the ability to revert to childhood and the wonderment of fantasy.

The DVD is excellent as is the film.
I am a fan of classic films. Douglas Fairbanks Jr is a good actor. The film also stars Anthony Quinn who was another good film actor also. You can't remake classics.

Great film just what I was expecting a swashbuckling epic, don't expect to need to think through it.
