Mayes 10211 72 Inch Straight Edge Aluminum Ruler, Heavy Duty 72 Inch Ruler with Metric and Standard Measurements, Extra Thick Precision Straight Edge

The rule arrived pretty banged up and the end corners had to be carefully filed back down to flush. Doing an straight edge test I found one side was pretty much straight while the other had an bow of about 0.25mm or 0.01 inch. Unfortunately I marked them before testing and the straighter edge is "B" while the slightly bowed edge is "A". I guess they stand for "Alright" and "Better". This is better than expected and much better than I need for carpentry projects. I didn't check the scale because I won't be using it. My only wish is that it was a little thicker (maybe 3/16") so I had more to ride against.

Couldn’t find a ruler this long… I’m very happy with it.

I compared this 72-inch aluminum Mayes ruler against a Shinwa 1000 mm stainless steel ruler . The Mayes has a decent straight edge , accurate to plus or minus 0.01 inches (less than the width of a 0.5 mm pencil line) throughout its length and has accurate 1/16th of an inch markings by comparing 99 cm on the Shinwa to 38 inches + (15.6/16) of an inch on the Mayes . The Mayes was spot on with the Shinwa throughout its length from the first 40 inches to the last 40 inches. I do wish the straight edge was more accurate but for the price, I cannot complain. Highly recommended.

I needed a six foot straight edge without using chalk!

The picture shows a yellow ruler and what I received was silver. I thought that if the picture showed a yellow ruler that that was what I would be getting. I was wrong. It is otherwise perfect for what I needed, but I would have bought a cheaper ruler from somewhere else had I known that I wasn't going to get a yellow ruler.
