WEN 10423 3 x 2 x 1-Inch Steel-Hardened Precision 123 Blocks, Two Pack

Quality hardened steel blocks, surface ground for parallel and square. Fit for purpose and use. Delivered on time in good condition.

Bought two sets, so four total. Cleaned them off with mineral spirits and some denaturated alcohol and measured all dimensions, and each end, with Mitutoyo calipers (precision to 0.0005"). They all landed on the 0 but depended on the pressure applied, meaning they are probably somewhere in their stated 0.0002" tolerance. The middles all dipped to X.9995" with the same pressure applied to the edges, but stayed at 0 with lighter pressure, so each of the blocks has a very mild dip in the middle, but that's ok. I also used a DIN 875/00 knife-edge reference square to check for square. They're good enough for wood working and some rough machining setups. Some corners were so good there was zero light leak. Others were off a bit. Definitely not ultra-precise blocks, but more than good enough for most needs, especially at this price point. Blocks like these make EXCELLENT clamping and square blocks for building boxes or other things where traditional full size woodworking clamping squares won't fit. They also won't flex or bend, so you can apply significant clamping pressure to use these to force tight joints into square.

Some have noted problems with these blocks, but mine seem very good indeed!. The blocks are square, true, flat, and have a near mirror finish when you get the oil/grease off. These do come (like nearly all such tools) wrapped in oilcloth paper. Not as bad as cosmolene, but it does require degreasing followed by a proper waxing to preservw finish and prevent oxidation. The packaging is not great: just wrapped in the paper, then in a plastic bag, and finally in a light cardboard box. Just be sure to check for damage after cleaning the blocks. As stated, mine arrived in good shape. RECOMMENDED

I don't know about metal workers, but for a woodworker, these blocks make life easy and there are potentially a hundred uses for these. Besides being used as a square for saw blades, they make great stop blocks and measuring tools (1", 2", 3", 4", 5", 6" and more if you buy more than two of these). I use them to drill pilot holes for 3/8" dowels in wood slats, and they make perfectly spaced holes on 2x4s, 1x4s, 2x6s and 1x6s (benches and tables for example). They also allow me to make perfect countersink holes with a 3/8" countersink bit because it works as a stop collar for the bit. If you're a machinist looking for a high end set of these blocks, this may not be what you're looking for, but if you're a woodworker, you will love these tools and you'll find all sorts of uses for them!

Seem well made. Ground surfaces and threaded holes seem clean. Measured 1x2x3 with calipers.

Fast safe shipping Excellent surface grind. Desired, Hardened finish. Very good matched flat/ parallel tolerance. The threads are 3/8- 16 as stated. Good tolerance. The chamfer depths are wavey Most likely a worn out tool 100% ZERO concern. Or interference. The threads were tapped individually not as a matched pair. One side will NOT allow bolting together. Threads & block alignment one side is .100 -/+ off. NOT a problem unless specifically bolting the blocks together as a pair. Overall very good blocks.

I bought this based on good review. After receiving the product, I agreed with the reviews. I evaluate this product based on 3 factures. Size Accuracy, Squareness, and Flatness. I use following measurement devices: Mitutoyo Mic and calipers, PEC (Blem) Double Square + Blem Machine square (Blem = Cosmetic defect supposedly). * Size Accuracy: Mic measurement on 1" side, I got 1.0002" - 1.0005" at 8 points all around. Use Calipers measured all 3 sides. They are dead nut 1.000", 2.000", and 3.000". Calipers are only guaranteed to .003" accuracy tho they may be better than that. * Squareness: Double square was dead nut hugging all sides. Machine Square shows little light at the angle. Turns out, if I press slightly the machine square can flex a little to conform. Machine square is good to .001" .002" ( I don't remember). * Flatness is measured with PEC rule. Small amount of light a few spots but nothing significant. * Cosmetic - Few light scratches probably due to handling. In the context of the price, they are more than acceptable. I use it for tool setup and woodworking. In my opinion, I think the tolerances these blocks achieved are better than my squares and rules. They can be used as corner joint jig using fence clamps. I can clamp them to table saw fence easily. I am happy with this purchases.

These easy to use 123 blocks are basically a no-brainer for nearly every woodworker. Excellent for setting blade heights, or distance to fence or other layout situations. Especially useful with setup bars. These are the perfectly sized for 1 inch, 2 inch or 3 inch spacing. They will last you for many years, they're a great value. I've had my set for 5 years. The only downside is they are steel, so do what you can to prevent rust. I'm in a humid climate, so it's an issue here. I've cleaned them and applied wax recently, hoping that that will help long term. Easy to store away with your other layout tools.

These are accurate (I checked each side on both blocks with a digital caliper to within 0.0005") and very useful in the workshop. I mostly use them for checking the tablesaw or other tools where I need a known fixed reference. A pair is nice because it let's you add them together to get references greater than 3 inches or use them to ensure parallel along a reference.

Gut verpackt in Ölpapier angekommen, keine Spur von Rost. Erst mal entfettet und mit dem guten Mitutoyo Messchieber kontrolliert, alle Maße 0. Das ist so genau genug für mich. Messung mit Bügelmesschraube folgt, ist für Holzwerken aber egal. Alle Gewinde passen und auch die Durchgangsbohrungen. Das sind 100 Punkte!

All'interno non troverete istruzioni o foglio illustrativo ma solo i due blocchetti incartati con del celofan, in una bustina di plastica...consiglio di munirvi di straccio e petrolio per una bella grassata.
