Great for ham radio and police-scanning
I use this radio for licensed-use on local amateur repeaters in the 70cm band. I also use it for listening in on the local police frequencies. This thing lasts forever on its battery, is easy to charge, and works reasonably well. Like all cheap radios, it can get overloaded with closer stronger signals. There are squelch settings when programming via Baofeng-style USB programming interface. CHIRP supports this radio very well, and allows setting offset, PL tones, and other options. It is also possible to set a channel to not transmit, which is handy when setting channels for police frequencies, so I don't accidentally invite a

What is not to like?
These little radios are fantastic. Great battery life, inexpensive, and pretty durable. Range is on par with your typical "blister pack" radio sets and they are programmable. I wanted to use them with my young son, so I used a programming cable and reset all the stations to one frequency. Now when we go out, or around the neighborhood and can stay in touch. He can have his radio, and I have a more powerful handset with his frequency programmed in.
