This is a great book for someone looking to save money on a shoestring budget. The day I got the book, I read it from cover to cover. Of course I was just putting the finishing touches on a room I built in the basement without ductwork from the central air to it, and wanted to purchase the correct heater for the size of room I had. This book told me what wattage of heater I needed in very simple terms. Which style of heater would work best in the room, and it also gives the reader other money saving tips at the end of the book, not necessarily about heating and cooling. This book is just what someone wants to read to get down to business right away and save money doing it.

I have a large home with a lot of unoccupied space, so I bought this book to see how it could help me cut my heating and a/c costs. This book takes the mystery out of the "BTU", "Watt" and efficiency ratings with easy-to-understand explanations. The book provides real-world situations, and covers various types of heating and cooling equipment. For example, one section of the book compares $300 electric heaters with $20 heaters and weighs advantages and disadvantages. The book makes it easy to apply the facts and to reduce energy costs. I have already seen lower energy bills.

Detailed and helpful. Only thing I wished it covered was comparing electric with gas use. Overall helpful regarding electric heating techniques

I am one who needs a great deal of help when it comes to selecting mechanical items for my home. This book's advice has saved me money on my cooling bills this summer, and I already know my heating bills will be lower this winter. The author's style is easy to read and understand. This book is also helpful in explaining which products are overpriced and/or not worth the investment. You will save money the first day you read it!
