Made in Japan Noren Curtain Tapestry Japanese Umbrella Aggregate Design

My house is very small and there is less than 10 feet separating 2 bedrooms that face each other. I wanted to gain some privacy when I'm in my bedroom without having to close my door all of the time. This noren did that as long as it wasn't back lit. If there was any light source in my room (tv, window, candles, etc), it became very sheer. Now from the bedroom looking out, it looked fine. So if I merely wanted a "feeling" of privacy and not actual privacy, this would've worked. I ended up ordering another one that is more opaque

Colors are vivid and true - color and design match the picture. Narrow curtain rod - fits nicely in standard doorway.I only take off one star because of the white backing. Even if there isn't a design on the back, it would look so much nicer if the back matched the background color of the front, especially when placed in a doorway between two high traffic areas, decorated areas.

The colors in the photo are very true to life. The package shipped directly from Japan, and arrived in perfect shape - no wrinkles in the curtain, so I could hang it immediately no need to iron or anything. I ordered a standard American-style spring-rod, and the pocket was easy to slide through. It was up and hanging within 5 minutes of opening the package.One note - these curtains are not opaque in general... if you want something to totally block view or light, this is not it - from the top of the door jamb, they fall to around 18-24" off the floor, and if there's a light source behind them (a window or bright light), you'll be able to see shapes through them. That wasn't a problem for me - this was a decoration for a party, rather than an everyday use thing, but some people are surprised when it comes and it's not totally opaque due to the open weave of the fabric.We put one up in the doorway to our kitchen for a Japanese style dinner party to add some ambiance, and it's perfect. I think it's also a great option for a teenager who is having friends over, and you don't want them to close the door to their bedroom, but want to give them some privacy.

We ordered these in the hopes of using them for window curtains, rather than an interior room divider as they are intended. The pattern on them is absolutely gorgeous, the colors are very rich and true to the image. They are actually authentically made in Japan, they come with the seal and everything. However, I was expecting a soft, cotton-like fabric. Instead, these were an oddly stiff, almost burlap-like material. It is unpleasant to the touch and the fabric is so stiff that it is hard to push them aside on a curtain rod. They should be used for their intended purpose as a room divider but even then, this material is stiff and scratchy and wouldn't be pleasant to walk through every time you entered a room. Also, they are not any good at all for privacy. They become COMPLETELY see-through when any sort of light hits them. They are more like a screen door than a curtain in terms of how well you can see through them. Honestly, I think they would be best hung up like a piece of artwork. That way it doesn't matter that the fabric is unpleasant to touch and doesn't provide any meaningful privacy.

I really like the design. It is exactly what we are looking for. One downside of it was the rod pocket stitches are not straight and our rod is a relatively thick. It was really hard to get it through, If it was straight it wouldn't be a problem. It says made in Japan on the label but, I really doubt it by seeing the stitching quality. Except for that, I'm really happy with it.

This is only printed on one but, as you can see, its vibrancy is apparent on the reverse side. As with most noren of this type, you will need to cut down the middle to create the space to walk through. Don’t worry! The threads there are thinner and it’s obvious where to cut.Really stunning and perfect to separate a room without a heavy door in the way!(Shipping takes longer as it’s coming from Japan but it’s packaged superbly and well worth the wait!)

I am looking for privacy - this one is relatively darker and less transparent but it is still mostly see through. if you look you can see the basic shapes of everything on the other side of the noren. - BAD!secondly, the design is as it shows in the picture. Pretty true to color, EXCEPT it is only one side. The other side is white with see through print which makes the whole thing looks 10 times cheaper! BAD!one good thing tho, is that this one is pre-separated. like all norens should, so you dont have to cut it yourself and leave a ugly seam between the two sheets

I just finally got around to hanging this tonight. I always loved these when I was at Sushi joints and I needed something to block the view of all of the ugly stuff in my mud room. It will not reach the floor if that is what you're looking for but, who cares. Hang it high with a suspension bar so taller people can walk through. it's really cool how the designs on both signs perfectly align. It solved a problem that was bothering since the minute I moved into my new place.

Beautiful Noren but the pattern is one-sided. It comes sewn up the middle so you can cut the slit as short or long as you like.

写真の通り、鮮やかな和傘が印象的で個性的なのれんです。派手な柄を望む時には安価で良いのれんだと思います。ただ、裏表が完全に違ってしまって、裏側は白っぽいまさにウラなので、双方向から見える部分には使いにくいのれんでもあります。よって星３つとしました。のれんとしてではなく、タペストリーとしての使用なら問題はないと思いますが、のれんは通常は双方向から見たり通ったりするものですから、やや残念です。価格的に仕方ないとも思いますが、裏側がもう少し見るに耐えうるプリントなら違和感がなく良いのですが。
