Brings back great memories!
I'm reading the saga of legend Drizzt again for the first time in close to 30 years. Reading these first books over again, brings back a lot of great memories. Of working in the TSR headquarters in Dallas, setting up the database that is currently used for DND play of 4th edition and 5th edition. I am a small group of friends, where instrumental in creating the databases that comprised the TSR silver edition CD-ROM. This electronic database would eventually become what most players use nowadays in the 4th and 5th edition. I also was lucky enough to spend many years as a game tester and a webmaster at d&d conventions from 92 to 2005. Reading these books again brings back great memories of happier days. Playing in such Rich worlds as dragonlance, forgotten realms and Raven loft. Even though I was not looking enough to have played this campaign setting in the original d&d, rediscovering these books and rejoining this Great adventure reminds me of what could have been. Also it's brings back as I have said before many other memories I'll hold their campaign settings. When I read books that are this well written it truly does make my imagination exercise and it makes the TV in my head so much better than anything that I can get with an electric screen. I look forward to finishing the books that I read so many years ago and reading new steps in the solder since I had quit reading Salvatore's work.

Nostalgia: Not as good as I remember.
I remember reading this entire series when I was younger. It was one of my all-time favorite series. I often found myself comparing contemporary authors to R.A Salvator, or rather my memory of his works. That said, ~20 years later, and having more exposure to fantasy writing, it isn't that great. It is ok. But not the life-changing series of books that put me on the path to reading hundreds of fantasy novels and series. It checks all the right boxes but is very simple compared to modern fantasy worlds. Many stories I had re-read as an adult, like "Starship Troopers" or "The Hobbit," improved when I re-read them later in life. This one didn't, which was disappointing. To put it another way, it is not a "Ren and Stimpy" or "courage the cowardly dog"; it doesn't improve with age and experience to understand the work's concepts. It is more "Sesame Street", as more life experience didn't make me know the show in a new way. It made it less entertaining.I will still give it four stars but will no longer hold it up as a perfect example of the fantasy genre.

Volume 2 is even better!
If you already read “The Crystal Shard”, then you must continue with “Streams of Silver”. The story picks up months after the last ended, and the action is fast paced. True D&D fans won’t want to miss what happens next.

Love these characters so much!
*Original review on Goodreads & My Blog*All of Drizzt books are probably going to be 5 stars, maybe a 4 star. Just sayin' ♥My babies ❤️EXCERPT"Come on," Regis offered. "Sit with Drizzt and me. No one will bother a tough old dwarf, but a tiny halfling and a skinny elf might look like good sporty the brutes in here. We need your size and strength to deter such unwanted attention."Wulfgar's chin firmed up at the compliment and he strode boldly toward the table. Regis shot Drizzt a knowing wink and turned to follow."Many lessons you will learn on this journey, young friend," Drizzt mumbled to Wulfgar, too softly for the barbarian to hear. "So far from your home."Bruenar came back from the bar bearing four flagons of mead and grumbling under his breath. "We're to get out business finished soon," he said to Drizzt," and get back on the road. The cost of a room in this orc-hole is open thievery!"*****"Guenhwyvar," he called softly. "Come, my shadow."His beckon reached out across the fabric of the planes, to the astral home of the entity of the panther. The great cat stirred from her sleep. Many months had passed since her master had called, and the cat was anxious to serve.Guenhwyvar leap out across the fabric of the planes, following a flicker of light that could only be the calling of the drow. Then the cat was in the alley with Drizzt, alert at once in the unfamiliar surroundings.END EXCERPTFantastic just as I knew it would be.But . . .I had a feeling someone would die 🙁The very ending though has given me some hope that not all is lost. I surely hope so!Happy Reading!Mel ❤️

Great book!
If you're a DnD fan or a fan of the Crystal Shard, you should definitely read this book. The author struggled to find his way some in the Crystal Shard, but in Streams of Silver he definitely starts to hit his stride. Such a fun read and really sets the pace for the rest of the series.

A great sequel
This is such a great sequel and it had me hooked instantly. It keeps following the story from where it left off in The Crystal Shard.Salvatore's writing has improved so much from the first book. The adventure style story is fun, and you get a lot more varied areas than in the first. Also, the introduction of Artemis Entreri is fantastic and you get more personality on a few characters from the first book. For me it got a bit slow towards the end and some of the combat scenes around the same point got a bit scrambled.

If you like this, you're a massive nerd
I love this series. I'm a huge nerd and so are you looking up this book on Amazon. It's great. You'll like it. Definitely has dwarves and elves and wizards so that ticks most of my boxes. It's not Finnegan's Wake but life's too short to read that book again.

If you've read the previous books .....
Don't stop now. This is the 5th and best so far. Great pacing and an epic quest with foes to match our heroes and give you nightmares.

Fantastic series
Since been told of this series from a friend I truly cannot stop reading it, book after book of pure adventure. The emotional ties you get to each character and and the need to know more about each of them is amazing. The fact there are a lot of books in the series is very exiting.
