About four years and still going.
I've had this Blueskysea branded G1W-C dashcam in my car for about four years. It has proven to be a good dash cam with reasonably clear video quality that has far surpassed several other newer units that I've purchased since, thinking I was upgrading. The unit itself is cheap plastic that doesn't inspire any confidence in its long-term durability but, as I stated, its been about four years and going strong. Navigating the menu and setting it up is a bit confusing and frustrating but if you're of average intelligence you'll figure it out despite the less than helpful manual. Over the years the front plastic casing has turned from black to a sort of dark copper color from its time in the sun but it has not failed me. If you're considering a GW1 dash cam watch for fake look-alikes; the Novatek 96550 chipset with a capacitor (rather than a battery) is what you want. With that said, the asking price of more than $90 for this, now long-in-the-tooth unit is utterly ridiculous (I paid about $40 for this Blueskysea branded model). There are now new models from a variety of manufacturers, with more advanced chipsets and image sensors at lower prices. Never the less, Chinese manufactures of cheap dash cams cannot always be trusted for truth in advertising, good quality control, or to stand behind their product. For that reason this might be a safe purchase even at this ridiculous price. I've been pleased with mine.
