Beautiful. Accurate. Awesome.
I had been looking for an avaiation watch for quite some time and I finally settled on this Hamilton. I couldn't be more happy with my choice. As others have said, it wears a little big for a 42mm watch due to the fact that the dial takes up pretty much the entire face of the watch. This makes it very easy to read the time. I also appreciate the fully spelled out day of the week at the top of the face. Having recently retired, I find it to be a useful feature. The black dial has a subtle sunburst texture and the numerals have a very fine vertical v-groove texture cut into them that catches the light like a bicycle reflector and makes them pop. The H-40 movement is extremely accurate. My watch runs about 2.5 seconds slow per day, so I just set it 10 seconds fast on Sunday and by the next Sunday I am still within 10 seconds of the actual time. That's almost twice the accuracy required of a COSC certified chronometer (+6/-4 sec/day). Pretty amazing for a $650 automatic watch!

The case diameter is absolutely the perfect size for me
I bought this watch because of the movie Interstellar. It really caught my attention in the film and when I received the watch, I was blown away by the way it looked. The case diameter is absolutely the perfect size for me. The low profile bezel makes the face more noticeable. The watch has a good amount of chrome that gives it a nice luxurious look. The band is very solid and the tolerances are very tight. It doesn't show any loose feel to it like how cheap watches are with their bands. The hands are one of the simplest designs I've seen on a watch, but that's necessarily not a bad thing. The simple design makes the watch look more classy, old-fashioned, retro, timeless and I love that. The only main downside that I can say about this watch is the design of the minute hand. The day display gets easily blocked by the minute hand during the 28th to 32nd minutes of every hour. Maybe if the luminescent part of the hand is shaved off by ~3mm, it would make the hand more skeletonized which will not block the day display. I wear this watch anywhere and it is a definite 'head turner' especially at my job. I do own four Swiss Automatic watches (two Hamiltons) and I would consider this as my favorite watch so far.

one happy customer, and a great watch!
I was a little worried buying from this seller but when the item finally arrived it was clean and working order. I would say a great value for the price you pay. Just to set the record straight and clear all the confusion of the movement, you receive the movement from the 2nd version of this watch which is hamiltons 80 hour power reserve movement which you really can't complain. Becareful when removing links from this watch as the link pins tend to be very loose tho. It really isn't a big deal for me because I'm giving this watch another strap but keep that in mind. even tho there was some shipping delays from weather it still came faster than expected and ships from New York really fast. Over all I am very pleased with my purchase if you have any questions feel free to leave me a comment.Edit: I figured out the link problem and found out this watch uses a pin and collar link system and it's super easy to lose the collar portion of the links so take it to a professional jeweler (Even professional jewelers lise this part of the link pin system) to remove the links or if you do it yourself please be aware there are two pieces to the link system. After I figured this out and was lucky enough I found my collars I had lost during the link removal procedure I put the collars back in place and the watch is great and no link pin slippage.

I love mechanical watches and really liked this one that had ...
This is the watch that appeared in Mathew McConaughey's hands in the movie Interstellar. Although another Hamilton watch -the "Murph" watch took much of the screen exposure, this Hamilton Pilot Day Date was what McConaughey was wearing and is available in the market. Although I was just attracted to the watch (as it is a Hamilton) when I watched the movie, I soon got hooked on to it as I read about it in reviews. I love mechanical watches and really liked this one that had combined Swiss precision with American style. Trust me, I fell in love with the watch the moment I opened the package from Amazon. It looks and feels nicer than how it appears in the pictures. I really like the dial. The minutes digits appear as both bronze and silver depending on light conditions. Additionally, it sits comfortably on my hand. Moreover, this watch has a special sentimental value as somehow I associate it with the dad-daughter relationship in Interstellar. Looks like my Omega and IWC need to take a break for a while.

I love the watch
I have several watches and enjoy them all but right now this is my clear favorite. I have watches which are more expensive and flashy but this watch is clean and beautiful. I saw this watch while searching other watches and couldn’t take my eyes off it. I am a big fan of Interstellar and love how this watch and The Murph are so important to the plot. Great watch and great story.

Good looking watch
This is a great looking watch I decided to rerun it due to I'm not sure it was the right fit for me. Very classic could be used casually or dressed up. I was so back & forth in my mind about it. The only thing was I thought it was gonna be a blue dial and it was black that was my main reason for the return.
