Does it have room for spare foot wear? Thinking a spare change of clothes including boots (size 14).

Yes, there is a compartment at the bottom of the bag that would accommodate most pairs of boots - not wellies though or anything that runs high up the calf.

Does the bag open at the front, or can you only pack it from the top and bottom?

Hi, this is probably too late for you but might help someone else. I've just seen one of these in a shop (I don't own one yet). If you look at the 2nd and 3rd photo, you will see a curved zip at one side. This gives quick access to the main section. Hope this helps.
