Quite a Variety in the Projects Shown
Most mosaic books don't have much variety in the examples they give. That is, they focus on flat surfaces, and often either very large, expensive projects like doing mosaic tables, or silly precut projects like goldfish and birds. This book is different. It deals with mosaic projects that most books ignore like how to make a lamp base with mosaics, decorative spheres, all sorts of oddly shaped furniture like dressers and night stands and linings for chairs, bird feeders, pots, you name it. It also shows typical flat surface mosaic designs. Its the curved surfaces that are a real challenge for mosaic work however, and also the most interesting to me, as it allows you to remake items like old lamps into something artistic. One of the other things I liked about this book that most mosaic books tend to avoid is that it shows how to take pottery like a ceramic plate and break it up into pieces, then reassemble it into a mosaic pattern. Many books on this topic just assume you are going to go to a crafts store and buy a prepackaged container of glass pieces. But the fun of mosaics is creating something individual from unique glass and pottery/ceramic pieces, not ready made supplies. So overall I found this to be a stand out book in the field and I'd recommend it to anyone interested in learning this fun craft.

A great "how-to" book, great gallery
This book does a really great job of teaching you how to create really fun projects. Simple, easy to follow instructions. The gallery section is very cool, with all kinds of great art that will spark new ideas for stuff you can create for your house and garden.Loved it!
