I REALLY loved the color and the texture of the journal. It is great for creative individuals who have a unique way of letting their thoughts flow. I would highly recommend as a gift for anyone who loves to write or who loves to travel journal. I was impressed that it had a lot of space to lay the journal flat, had a designated slot for a pen, and did not smell of disgusting chemicals.Something that many reviewers tend to overlook is the packaging of the product. As a fellow packaging observant, I have to say I really loved the way the product was presented. The presentation matters a lot and it definitely helped me feel as though the product was made just for me. I loved the note included, the little sticker on the inside packaging, and the box in which the product came in.

This was a gift for a friend that a group of us travel with. She absolutely loved it and the fact that it was vegan as well as the pretty yellow color. Hard to order something online but am very happy.

This looks great from the pictures, but what you get is a cheaply constructed notebook whose cover flops around and doesn't quite stay put. It was made of vegan leather they say. However, there was a very unpleasant fishy odor that would not come out of the leather, in spite of leaving it out in the sun. I would definitely not recommend to any sane human being.

The color is brighter than expected. It is a soft material. The lined notebook is basic but decent quality.

This journal is actually quite beautiful. The vegan leather feels nice to the touch and kind of buttery. I actually love the tie around closure, I think it gives it a certain elegant feel. The paper is really nice, no bleeding or feathering and I use colored pens. It fits in my purse nicely.My only negative is the refills. The notebook inside is 5x7, which is not a usual journal size. I love the fact it comes out and you can re-use it but I can't find a 5x7 notebook like the one included to refill it. If you buy this, just keep in mind that you may not be able to refill it and that would make it a costly investment.All in all, I really like it but not sure I would purchase it as a gift since there are no re-fills.

I will start by saying that when I was a kid, I was the kid that hung out in the office aisle of the grocery store or kmart when my parents did the shopping. I have always been fascinated by office supplies including fancy notebooks and now fountain pens. I will do my best to give an honest and unbiased opinion on this item and you can see how the writing fairs to my fountain pen in the attached images.Lets start with the unboxing which I did not attach photos of. This thing is really wrapped! As most of the new products I have received from overseas, this thing came double boxed and then plastic wrapped and taped shut in its own little bag. Wow. The gift box it came in by itself almost exudes quality and I thought about not opening it and giving it away to someone with a starter fountain pen. However I wanted to make sure I had the proper chance to try it out.My mom gave me a fancy real leather journal many years ago very similar to this one. I started using it and it was not long before the leather wrap dried up and broke off. I do not think you will have this issue with this 'vegan' leather. This stuff is very nice to the touch, almost feels like a shammie and is very supple. I do not see this leather drying out anytime soon since it is very soft and not leather at all.The folds in the wrap are nice and the notebook is replaceable. The paper is nice although it is not the optimal paper for writing on with fountain pen. It is very smooth paper with very little bite to it. The ink does a great job of absorbing into the paper and the show through is minimal compared to another notebook I will review here shortly. The ink does absorb into the page fairly quickly as you can see by the intentional smudge at the end of my scribbling. I closed the two pages together and you can only detect a small amount of ink that blotted over the the back of the previous page that blotted off. Note that I did not wait any time at all before turning the pages. This is a great notebook for the public commuter, maybe a student and perhaps even for a gift.Personally I like notebooks that are a little bit larger so I can practice long sweeping loops with my writing. I have a tendency to have better penmanship on larger pages. The notebooks pages are perforated which I Like and allow you to tear them out without ruining the binding of the journal. The date section allows this to be used perfectly for a journal or a 'To Do' list. At first I thought the pen loop would be a bit small but it is actually a good size and allows a Parker Duofold to fit in the loop.Would I buy this item again? Hmm. that is a tough one. It really is a nice notebook although not my particular style. Will I be using this as my daily journal? No. I will go back to my composition size notebooks and perhaps if i travel somewhere grab this one. I have other notebooks with notebook covers on them. Would I select this item as a gift for someone with its super wrapping and box. You betcha I would! It is a great little book and if I just happened to be looking for a refill for this sleeve if it lives up to the torture I put it through, I would look for a slightly heavier paper. Valery has some great travel journals out there, I just don't think they fit my personality or writing style.

Let me start with my least favorite feature. The long band to wrap the journal to “lock” it, is cumbersome and really not very functional to begin with. The best news about it is that it’s removable like a belt. With that out of the way, let’s starte the praise.“Vegan leather” is an innovative way to call the cover material—that has nothing in common with animal hide—something desirable by traditional means. It does look every bit like the “real thing”, even if it feels nothing like leather. The color and texture are really attractive and I don’t have any issues with it being no actual leather. In fact, the soft feel is really nice too.The cover holds the following poetry: “To move, to breathe, to fly, to float, to gain all while you give; to roam the roads of lands remote, to travel is to live.” Now it’s clearly a theme for a travel journal, but can be applied to many situations in life. It’s not the most elegant writing, but it does add a bit of flair to the cover.The journal itself is replaceable, which goes with the theme of a travel journal where a completed trip can be taken and replaced with a new, fresh notebook for the next trip. Of course, once again, that also works for other situations than just travel. The included loop for a pen is a nice detail.The journal is standard ruled and for writing it works just fine. The paper feels robust and won’t bleed thru quickly. Of course it won’t hold permanent marker back from showing on the other side, but that’s not to be expected. (A ballpoint pen is best.)Overall, this is an attractive journal cover with a functional insert that lays flat enough for comfortable writing. It’s also not very thick to help the ergonomics when writing. It comes in a nice box and sure makes also for nice gift for anyone who like to keep a diary or journal.
