Great little motor!
I put this motor into my Redcat Volcano 1/18 after it burned the motor up. I didn't do any form of break in. I did with this one and it has worked very well. A bit faster and runs cooler. Pushing close to 25 mph on a fresh battery!

Terrible, don't buy. Prone to over heating.
I like that this item arrived on time but... It ran one battery pack fine. And it was cool to the tuch, witch i kinda found that one odd. The secound time i ran it. one of the solder end points came off. And i only went halfway through that battery. And the motor was very hot to the tuch. I always let the electrics cool of after i run them, so it wasn't my fault. This motor is prone to run hot and overheat, and i believe its because it was very cheaply made. Now i let the motor cool down then soldered the connection back on. Put it back in the car and turned it on. It worked for a bit... But the motor started to make a clanking noise when going forward but not backwards. I know it was the motor because i never heard the noise before when i had the other motor witch was the dromida 370 witch lasted a hell of a lot longer then this one. Well after a lil bit longer maybe not even a few minutes it started the die down and at that moment i knew the motor went. I used a venom 7.2 v 1200mah battery in a dromida db 4.18. This motor is definitely terrible in every witch way. It only lasted about two battery packs through it.

Like a scalded cat, and lasted about as long too.
I give this 2 stars, mainly as a benefit of the doubt. I put this in a Helion Animus, stock ESC, Ran 7.4v 2s lipo on the single run the lasted for. It was FAST vs the stock motor, significantly faster, more than I expected - seemingly both in acceleration and top end. But after about 5 minutes the motor just died. I'm using a heatsink and vented body, stock pinion (11 or 12T). I checked all the connections, still would not go at all, so I installed my previous kyosho 380 motor and the truck runs again - my point is the motor died for sure, ESC is fine, motors soldered up directly (no connector to fail - although the motor does come with one attached at first). $10 lasted 5 minutes, but by god it was fast while it lasted!

My kid could make a better motor and he is 3 years old... read this.
I would give no stars if it was an option. Having no other choice I had to purchase seven of these so far only to find the inconsistency in the quality of manufacturing something only possible in elementary school or a really good scam of planned obsoletion. The original motor will run for a month you will be lucky to get 1-5 batteries out of any new motor. I say one battery because one motor was so absurd to die 2 mins in! Having been in the RC world for three decades I somehow convinced myself I am doing something wrong, so me and my friends bought a bunch more and kept testing. Even added the cool heatsink. We ran them in a train station paved smooth parking lot just to prove tall grass, short grass, and dirt have nothing to do with it. You could run these motors down a hill and they would still figure out a way to burnout! After I offer to return all seven motors back to the company I will report on what they do to correct my situation. Mind you, 4 months since purchase... barely used it. Totally not cool!P.s. rest of car is awesome! I would pay more money for something that lasted longer so I can enjoy running the car to relieve my stress, instead it gives you stress, because no matter how good you are at taking care of it you will always end up fixing this thing.

Didn't last long.
Good while it lasted, which was about 10 minutes. Not sure why it burned up on first use. Will try again with a heat sink.Update: Bought a second motor and used a heat sink this time. The motor lasted about 15min before burning up. I guess it's back to the stock motor.

Good motor but overheats easily
I bought this to replace the stock motor on my DT418 after I burned it up. I would say that this motor is a bit stronger than the stock motor, but not much. For the price I think it's a good value but, like the stock motor, it gets extremely hot and will burn up if you're not careful. I like to run my truck in dirt and patches of short grass and have burned up two motors so far...on pavement I ran it wide open for a full charge and it did fine. My next motor purchase will be the brushless kit which I understand is much more durable and runs cooler.
