Can’t beat a Rawlings real leather glove! Easy to break in and holding up great. Highly recommend. My 9 year old loves it and his instructor also thinks this is a great glove especially for the cost. Can’t go wrong with this one!

My son is 8yo and a decent player (best on his non-traveling, non-competitive team). I wanted something not expensive with a deep pocket that would swallow up balls. This is perfect for that. The breaking with some hot water and a mallet and wrapped overnight was 2 days max (search youtube Aso glove break-in). My son has pretty small hands and is able to squeeze this glove easily. It's a big glove for an 8yo but not too big. He's average to small for his age. This is a 1st base "mitt", not a "glove", so if you have some super strict league, they may only let you play 1B or catcher with it, but that's just ridiculous for 8-9 yo kids. This has a great very deep pocket to help him hold onto balls that hit the glove. So the Pro's are super cheap for a glove but good quality, very easy break-in, and easy to catch with. The only con is it's likely not going to hold up for more than 2 seasons. It's a little flimsy already after 1 season but still very useable. The easy break-in comes at a cost of quick wear-out. It's just how it is with these easy break-in leathers. But at this price, 2 seasons is plenty of use and he'll be moving up to the next level and where the rules will likely be more strict and not let him use a 1B all over the field anyway, and will need a new one. This glove is also a great option if your kid only plays 1B very infrequently and you don't want to spend big $ on a second glove. I wouldn't recommend this for very high level travel ball tho, go for the R9 or higher. That said, for the 7-8yo still learning to play and can handle a bit bigger glove, this is awesome. I liked this glove so much for him that I bought the 32.5 Catcher's glove for me as a very cheap glove to teach hi to pitch in the back yard. It is also great and not too small for an adult.

This glove works well as an entry-level option for younger players who are learning first base or catcher positions. It breaks in fairly easily compared to higher-end gloves, which helps kids get comfortable catching sooner without fighting a stiff pocket. The padding is decent for recreational or youth league play, and the overall design is lightweight enough for smaller hands to manage. In use, it performs best for beginner to intermediate play where durability demands aren’t too high. It’s a good “first real position glove” that helps build confidence, though it may show wear faster with heavy travel ball use or older, stronger players.

This glove is not going to last forever. But, it is perfect for what it's built for. It requires minimal break-in and could easily be used the same day as purchased. But, because of the soft leather, I imagine it will wear down much quicker. However, your kid is only going to be a youth for a short amount of time and is not going to be catching 100 MPH throws. It is plenty strong enough and durable enough for adult usage, but easiest enough to use for kids. A+

A great catchers mitt at a very low price. My grandson, age 7, loves it even better than his expensive Shoeless Joes infielders glove.

This glove is perfect for my 9 year old son. Fits his hand like a glove, pun intended. It looks great too. Would definitely recommend.
