Good self-contained and versatile starter LED light kit
What you get . . . . 2 LED light strips, each strip being about a foot long with 9 LED light emmitters attached equidistant along the strip. Extension cables (a one foot, and a two foot) to string the two strips together in series as desired. A Y-connector if you want to split the 2 strips in parallel to go 2 different directions. The controller module/cable that the light strips plug into. And the fused cable that the controller module plugs into. This fused cable is then connected to any DC power source . . . boat, car, truck, motorcycle, garden tractor, combine, monster truck, and so on. A cigarette lighter adapter is included for less permanent installations. And of course the remote control unit to provide nearly countless combinations of color/fading/flashing styles. I installed mine up under the fuel tank on a motorcycle, attached to the underside of the frame rail, to illuminate the engine area when parked at night and I want to show off a little bit(electrical current draw on a single strip is super low, just a watt or two). This all goes together very easy, plug-in style, and hooks up to your 12VDC power source - hardwire it or use the cigarette lighter adapter. By the way, this controller unit has the capacity to add many additional strips, totalling up to 36 feet. LED lifespan is advertised to be 8-10 years @ 6-8 hours of use per day. Nuff said. The big challenge: Operation is easy using the remote. The only real challenge involves getting a clean installation look without exposed or dangling wires. Not too hard to do with some pre-planning, especially since this is meant to be an indirect lighting source and the strips should be hidden (i.e. people should see the light but not the light strips . . . or the wiring). Also note that the controller module needs to be installed more or less "line-of-sight" in order to receive signals from the hand-held infra-red remote control unit. Cool light kit, all self-contained. Not complicated and can be a lot of fun to plan and install.

Easy to Install, Not a Good Value for the Cost
I've never done any kind of car modification or electronics work, but found assembling the PPA multi-color interior lighting kit fairly easy. The included instructions are little more than a photocopy of high-contrast pictures and simple phrases, but even a rudimentary understanding of what has to happen (power supply, to cabling, to lights) makes wiring pretty simple. Attaching it directly to the car's wiring harness is well outside my knowledge/comfort, so - if you're content with plugging it into a cigarette lighter and flipping the lights on - then you'll be satisfied with assembly. The instructions also don't address hardwiring the lights at all, so you'll have to figure that out on your own, or with the assistance of the internet. The only tool I used was a pair of needle-nosed pliers, to crimp connections and ensure a good fit. Installation itself was easy; I have a Honda Civic 2010, and ran the wires in the crevice between the upholstery and center console, with one lighting strip kept under each front seat. I also used some extra adhesive as I didn't want to deal with having the 3M velcro/sticky stuff coming off. The lights are bright, and offer a wide spectrum of colors. You can set the modes to shift between shades and hues, to flash, or otherwise remain static. The biggest complaint I had about the customized functions is that there's no setting to have it respond to music or 'beat,' which was a feature I'd been wanting to incorporate. Overall, this is maybe a $22-25 kit. If you're willing to spend upwards of $45-60, you'll be able to get better install instructions, music-reactive lighting, and an improved wiring harness.

Almost perfect for my needs
I got this to see if long strips of these lights (a single controller can handle 26' of lights) might work as battery-saving ambient lights for the VW Camper I'm rebuilding. The answer is: gosh yes! right now I'm running them off a big deep-cycle battery that is hooked up to a 4W solar trickle-charger. I've left them on all night for the last week, and the trickle-charger seems to be holding its own. Installation is easy. (If you're doing a permanent install, I recommend potting all the connectors in silicone). I was concerned about the amount of light, wanting to use these to at least read by: no concerns there: put six strips side-by-side above the kitchen cutting board, and you've got operating-room brightness (which is exactly what you need, given that the cutting board IS an operating room featuring your hands). A single strip is easy to read by. Thrown in for free is the multicolour capabilities. It's a shame that the controller only allows you to choose between 15 colours and white: the LEDs themselves are likely capable of many more, but it's really nice to be able to see clearly, and also do mood or nightlight lighting. I believe these are built to an international standard, allowing you to mix and match manufacturers. And I'm SURE someone makes a plugin controller that syncs them to the music that's playing (Deadheads pay attention). Dislikes? * If the remote dies, so goes the lights: there is no other way to control them. * Restricted colour choices (ridiculous complaint, given the price) * A slight roughness to the response. Switch colours, and it might flash brightly in another colour. * The remote is primitive: to brighten or darken, holding down the button does nothing: you have to press it repeatedly. * But I dislike that I'm even bitching, given how useful and how much fun these are.

LIGHT IT UP
This product worked out great for me although some have expressed that the didn't like it. I didn't have any problems installing it into the car. You can pick the color you want and I think she has gone with blue or was it red. Well regardless this was a cool little thing and I would recommend it.
