Contact Dermatitis Sufferers, Try This Soap.
It's critical that I always have a supply of this olive oil soap on hand due to severe skin allergies Every other product on the market causes burns, blisters, otherwise known as acute contact dermatitis, etc due to the chemicals contained therein. Here in the US, all the products contain fillers and fragrance that causes harm. It's pretty sad that one has to go all the way to France for safe soap. Thank God this old French soap recipe and method still exists. Thank God for the Marseilles soap makers.Over time, I've realized this soap is a powerhouse. First of all, it's safe for people like me to use and it's great for lowering your toxic load in/on your body. I will not order anything but the green olive oil block. Nothing else. Not the palm oil block, not the shea butter stuff. No thanks to fillers, perfumes. It's also low waste. Not a lot of trash. I wish it didn't come in a plastic wrapper as these soaps need to be aired out anyway. Air out your soap blocks when they arrive. They need to air out and harden. They'll last longer when you do this. Also, get a little wooden soap rack or dish. If the soap sits on a surface with water it'll dissolve. Your soap needs to dry out between uses. It'll last longer.I use this for everything, laundry, dishwashing, hair washing (yes! crazy right?), house cleaning. It's an excellent degreaser says the machinist in the house. It removes coffee ring stains off the coffee mugs instantly.I can tell this is authentic olive oil soap by its not-so-loved "petro" scent. Reminds me of the scent of new tires. I actually love it. No fragrance means no damage to my skin. Fragrance is a notorious allergen. My one complaint is that this soap isn't always in stock when I need it. I've jumped from supplier to supplier so when I see it in stock I buy as much as I can afford.

Not like other soaps; it is gentle and moisturizing
I swore off bar soap for years because of how drying, irritating, and itchy it is for my skin. It was a no-go regardless of the time of year, even during the summer. However, I was intrigued by this soap because of the straightforward ingredients and high olive oil content. I was very pleasantly surprised when I tried it; it really is moisturizing and I'm quite surprised; I fully expected it to be as drying as everything else I have tried. No irritation or itchy skin after my shower and my skin feels softer. It does have an unexpected smell when you first open it, but as another reviewer noted, it is an earthy smell, and seems to me to be of the olive oil. The soap does not stink up my bathroom or house. I don't mind the scent at all and I appreciate the fact that the natural ingredients aren't covered up by perfumes or additives. I like being able to use a soap that has a handful of ingredients v. the long lists in body washes and other bar soaps. I will definitely continue to order and use this! It's definitely worth trying, especially if you are a skeptical soap user as I am!

The worst smelling soap
Great formula and lovely shape, but probably the worst smelling soap ever. I love CdP and this was disappointing.

RICH OLIVE OIL SOAP
I have tried at least 10 different olive oil soaps to deal with a very dry climate. This is without a doubt the richest of them all. The only inconvenience is that for a bathroom in the U.S. it requires cutting the block in half (I use a hot, sharp knife to avoid splitting) to fit the soap holder. Well worth the slight extra effort. A very close second is the Papoutsanis Greek olive oil soap which I get when the Savon Marseille isn’t available. Coming in 3rd is the olive oil soap by Kiss My Face. It is the standard U.S. sized soap bar and I use it while traveling. It fits perfectly in my travel soap container and much better than any hotel soap.

Pretty accurate to the reviews
Works really well for removing grease stains on the stove and dishes. On the other hand not ergonomic at all for gripping especially when wet. But- it is very aesthetic. The smell was not as bad as people said it was and dissipated after a week or 2. Smelled closest to earthly gasoline but not... chemically. I didn't notice much change in the eczema on my hands using it. But it did not bother or sting it either.

I wish I had bought this sooner!
I was worried that I wouldn't like the smell of this soap as it's not full of normal soap perfume. But I absolutely love the scent! The olive oil based soap smells green, earthy, and warm. It invokes the word "homestead." But I can totally understand why people wouldn't like it. If you're sensitive to earthy smells or you associate soap with strong flower scents--you might want to pass on this bar. But if you're like me and love natural scents of a country cottage--buy this immediately.Oh! And it left my skin feeling super clean and NOT tight, dry, or itchy. I have dry skin and I am in a hot/dry environment. After my shower I even went without putting moisturizer on my legs. This is my new favorite product.

Simple, Effective, yet Luxurious Soap
For those of us who prefer unscented, simple soap, this large cube excels. While there is a slight scent, probably borne of the olive oil in this bar, it washes away immediately and leaves no residue. This soap is incredibly "creamy" and lathers like crazy. 16 (yes, I counted) swipes on a shower loofa sponge will more than lather up enough to do a full body cleanse in the shower. There is also the appeal of a big chunk of soap (if you're into that sort of thing), much more tactile-y pleasant than shower gel. And these cubes tend to last for months of daily washing. Great stuff.

Great dish and hand soap
I use this on my dishes and it's great at removing grease without using all the polluting chemicals a regular dishwashing liquid does. also great on my cast iron skillets. Lasts a long time. Smells soapy, but that's to be expected of soap.
