Amazing and life changing (honestly!)
I'm a college student and received this book as a gift from my mother. As someone who was new to cooking on my own, this book completely changed the way I thought about cooking. Not only does this book provide easy, no fuss recipes, it is basically a how-to book on how to cook and eat well. Each recipe can be altered to fit your needs and what you have in the fridge/pantry! Leanne showed me that you don't need complicated ingredients to have an amazing meal. And now that I'm a more experienced cook, I still come back to this book for inspiration and ideas on new recipes. If you are new to cooking, buy it. If you are on a tight budget, buy it or look at the PDF online. If you are looking for ways to cut back on processed foods, buy it. Even if you are an experienced cook, buy it. Despite the general premise of the book, this cookbook is for EVERYONE.By the way, some personal favorites of mine are the zucchini chocolate muffins, banana pancakes, taco salad, cauliflower cheese, and her pizza dough recipe.

Good stuff
I bought this book after I read an article on Buzzfeed. I was not disappointed! Showed to my coworkers and they loved as well. I love the variety of recipes and how easy most of them are. For me is a challenge to vary every day or every now and then.

Best purchase I've made in ages
I cannot say how wonderful this cookbook is enough. For the price, too! It's, no joke, full of everything I'd wish I'd known when I was on a food-stamp-level food budget. Honestly, I just sat down and read it cover to cover one day to really soak in all the information on the front and back, and I've been using the advice to build up my pantry and my spice rack. One of the best things about this book, though, is that Leanne successfully sets guidelines and then backs off, giving suggestions and alternatives where applicable so you can really get creative with what you have. I've never been more excited to check out what's on sale in the vegetable section of our grocery store or stock up on dried black beans! Especially with us being on a tighter budget, Leanne's given me a way to build confidence in the kitchen without breaking the bank like so many other cookbooks out there - all while being surprisingly healthy. You won't regret this purchase for a moment, and I'd recommend buying a few copies as well to give as the need arises. Being in a tight spot money-wise can be incredibly overwhelming; this takes the pressure off and gives a bit of much-needed autonomy.

Worth every penny and more!!
If I could give this book 10 stars I would. I lost my job and needed to save money on food so I bought this book. The recipes are sooo delicious. I have not found a single one that's a dud. My husband and I both feel better since we cut way back on processed foods and increased our veggie intake due to this book. I'll never go back!!!

Amazing. Buy it!
This is my absolute favorite cookbook of all time.I came across it months ago when it was only in PDF form as I was looking for ways to incorporate more vegetables into my family's meals. For so many of us, veggies are something we HAVE to eat for our health instead of something we want to because they are delicious. I can personally attest that Leanne transformed my worldview on the humble zucchini :) This cookbook is truly a book of inspirations and ideas, not hard and fast prescribed recipes. I have yet to find a recipe in here that my family, including my 2 year old, doesn't like (try the Corn Soup on your little ones.... It's a hit in my house!)To make it all even better, this cookbook is dedicated to the low-income community and helping those with limited income learn to cook healthfully - and more importantly- enjoyably, without being preachy or condescending. For any copy you buy, one gets donated to someone who needs it. I bought 4 copies which I'm sending to my siblings and friends. Buy it- it's a great cookbook and a great cause.

Leanne, you're my hero!
I hope Leanne read this because her book has seriously had the biggest impact on my life. More so than almost anything else is the past 5 years. Not only do I eat healthier now because of this book, but cooking is fun now! All I've needed are good, simple, cheap recipes that I can alter how I want, and this book is exactly that! All my flatmates think I'm a chef now. :) I'm doing the best I can to recommend this book to anyone and everyone. You don't need experience to pick this book up.I've even purchased this twice, once for my friend who couldn't afford it, which to me is a lame excuse since your book has saved me so much money in food that the price of this book isn't even a factor, so I bought a copy for my friend.I do have to say having hyperlinks for a cookbook blew my mind, this is how cookbooks should be.The only criticism that I have is that I didn't discover this book sooner. Seriously, I can't find a fault, every recipe I've used is so delicious and I feel happier and more energetic now, also leftovers are to drool for, I've never felt that way about leftovers before. It's been a month that Ive used your book for almost every meal and I have absolutely zero regrets, this has changed how I eat permanently. I hope that was your goal!

Good tips for all
I think that it's something of a pipe dream that a low-income person could afford to have on hand the ingredients, such as olive oil and fresh herbs, for some of the recipes. If one does have money there are lots of good ideas and plans for saving money and having good food. I especially like the idea of buying better eggs and bakery bread for quality. In the end, good tips for everyone.

Amazing book
I am so happy that I purchased this book. It makes so much sense, uses really basic ingredients to make really nice dishes. It is less a cookbook and more a "way of life" book by making you look at food a bit differently. Well worth it if you would like to start using whole foods more, less prepared foods. It resets your thinking and shows you how simple it can be.

Well Worth Checking Out!
I loved the concept of this cookbook and although it is not a vegetarian cookbook (and I AM a vegetarian) I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did.Author Leanne Brown has created a collection of simple but for the most part, healthy dinners, snacks, breakfasts...with the goal of being able to eat for $4. a day. Although I think that is a bit optimistic, based on prices for groceries in many places, including here in BC Canada, the reality of being able to stick to a much lower food budget IS possible with these recipes.A good variety of recipes including: Potato Leek Pizza, Vegetable Quiche Hold the Crust, Vegetable Jambalaya, Corn Soup, Sweet and Savory Pineapple Salad and many more. And yes, there were a number of vegetarian options included too, I appreciated that.Recipes include not only a list of ingredients but also approximate (based on the author's findings) price per serving, small photos of finished dishes, servings per recipe and easy to follow instructions. An excellent recipe collection for anyone on a budget, just starting out with their cooking ventures and/or those looking for cheap but good ways to stretch a food budget further (and aren't we all, these days!) ;-)Geraldine Helen Hartman author of the Groovy Green Kitchen series.

One of the best cookbooks I've ever used.
This cookbook was practically made for broke college students. Like the title implies, the recipes are delicious, healthy, and affordable. One of the coolest things about this cookbook is that the author actually provides a rough estimate of how much each recipe costs.Even if you're not concerned about your grocery budget, this is still a great cookbook to have for its surprisingly easy recipes. When you just don't know what to make, this book is basically guaranteed to have a good recipe you probably wouldn't have thought to make, with ingredients you probably already have on hand.I highly recommend this for people learning to cook, people on a budget, or people who are just too busy to cook. It makes eating healthy feel appealing and accesible.

Great book. I'm the pastor at a church an bought this book for a few reasons:1) Because I wanted to save money on my grocery bill.2) Because I'm a bachelor and through years of cafeteria food at university I've essentially forgotten how to cook or do groceries. So I wanted a book that had a simple guide as to how to set up, run, and stock my kitchen with a lot of good quick recipes.3) Because I heard Leanne Brown interviewed on the radio, loved what she was doing, and wanted to test the book before recommending it to my church to give out in the community. This fulfills all the above criteria superbly. I should also note that there is a deal for bulk purchases for organizations like churches, food banks, etc. So you can get a reduced rate if you're handing it out to your community. Anyway, GFC goes through quickly and in just enough details sort of all the facets of keeping your kitchen and cooking for yourself. $4/Day is obviously going to depend on your locale but I feel most of the recipes are pretty affordable. Follow her guidelines and you'll be eating fairly healthily for fairly cheap. Definitely recommend.

Buch-Cover). Sehr zu empfehlen!
