The Good Life: The Complete Collection

Hilarious and nostalgic. Love it
If you love The Good Life, this is brilliant. It’s actually Penelope Keith narrating not Felicity as stated. Penelope does a brilliant job anyway of course.

Good Life
This collection of CDs with the added enjoyment of Penelope Keith's supplementary descriptive commentary at just the right places is excellent. The item arrived well packaged and after initial delays - fully explained by Amazon, arrived as advised.

Awful
Hated this collection. Constant interruptions by Penelope Keith with incessant stage directions. Not a good listen at all.

GREAT TO HAVE IT ON CD BUT THE LINKING SCRIPT ...
GREAT TO HAVE IT ON CD BUT THE LINKING SCRIPT FOR AUDIO WRITTEN BY MICHAEL STEVENS AND READ BY PENELOPE KEITH IS INTRUSIVE , HUMORLESS AND VERY NEARLY SPOILS THE EXPERIENCE. THE THE EXPLANATIONS OF WHAT IS GOING ON IS MOST OFTEN UNNECESSARY AND PENELOPE KEITH'S SOTTO DRONE BETWEEN DIALOGUE IS LIKE LISTENING TO MUM READING A BOOK AT BEDTIME TO SLEEPY CHILDREN.

Good series, disappointing presentation
I like this series, but my sister absolutely loves it so I thought I'd give the DVD version a little break and give these CDs a go while in the kitchen. These ARE the original TV soundtracks with good sound quality, so no problems there. I'm sure this adaption was made with the best intentions, and anyone new to the series may find Penelope Keith's regular commentary helpful in setting the scenes, which is inserted between various breaks in dialogue, but if, like me, you know this series inside out, you might possibly find the narration strangely intrusive and distracting.Afterwards, both my sister and myself frowned at each other and remarked in unison "I couldn't listen to this again".... A real shame, and at £35 a go a pretty expensive one!I would normally give the TV series four stars, but this presentation so disappointed I couldn't in all honesty award it any more than two.The product itself is as compact as it could be I reckon - 15 discs stacked on a cake spindle housed in a sturdy plastic case that reminds me of one of those old VHS cases sliced in half. Like I've already said - a nice series but disappointingly presented.
