Painting Clouds and Skies in Oils

Love this book. Great photos of artwork and explanations of how to paint clouds.

This book is evidently intended for people who are either contemplating learning oils or have just begun. Because there happens to be chapter after chapter of "filler" material that has nothing to do with "painting clouds and skies" and this filler material is at the most elementary level.There is only a single "how to paint clouds" in the book, and that single lesson shows you how to paint so-so clouds: the kind of clouds you'd get by dragging your brush across the horizon. For this, you really don't need a lesson at all.But the author gets 2 stars for effort as this is quite a good book for beginning artists.

I was looking for specific examples of most of the cloud types I would encounter. I'll figure out the colors. Plus you had numerous artists telling you what colors they would use. Artists have their own favorite colors to use.As someone else said, not what I was looking for.

A lovely book full of different sky paintings, lots of good advice too .

画家のアトリエでの使用するツール、豊富な筆から、溶剤絵具、イーゼル、違う溶剤での風景の印象の違い。雲の構造を理解する為に多くの作品が描かれている。季節・時間帯、様々な表情を見せる自然の表情を描き出している。名所ではない、何気ない場所に美を見出す美意識作品化する能力（センス）訓練あるだろうが天性のものだろう。キャンバスを９等分して、重要なポイントに、配置していく等細かなアドバイスがある。中には、画面の３分の２以上の空・雲の描写の作品もある。ビューバインダーを使用し、画面を絞り、重要なポイントに配置していく方法も掲載されている。風景の好きな人にはもってこいの本だろう。勉強になると思う。
