An excellent job to present the life and the extraordinary achievements of this humble diver.
This is the amazing story of Stathis Hatzis, a Greek sponge diver who succeeded to dive in unprecedented depths as considered in his time not to break a record but to secure his daily living. Giannis Detorakis, the author, an excellent diver and free diving instructor dears to decipher the life and the incredible achievements of this long forgotten humble sponge diver almost a century after through the pages of this book in his unique way approaching Hatzis' persona in a realistic, scientific but still in an emotionally touching stance. Reading this book you will learn more about his life from small age, understand why and how Hatzis had to develop and perfect these extraordinary capabilities and how and with his complete lack of intention he became the legend for all modern free divers whether sportsmen or record seekers. Because when you finishing reading the last page of this book you will realize that this is not only a biography as you had assumed when opening the first page but also an innovative and inventive approach by the author to present the history of hyperbaric physiology as we know it today. And something more very important: this book is a historical rehabilitation of an ancient long tradition of mastering the depths and the secrets of the sea by countless generations of island divers for whose Stathis Hatzis is the collective representation and their chance to be remembered. Enjoy this great book!!

Interesting - the author tends to repeat himself in places ...
Interesting - the author tends to repeat himself in places. Could perhaps have used some editing. But a valuable contribution to a topic which has very little written about it.

Libro e recensione.
He wasn't an heroe, just a diver". Risposta scarna. mi auguro che ciò cambi in futuro.
